If Silva is sacked - who could/should we get?

Wigan in the cup.

Fellaini literally just threw his arms up in the air and gave up after around the hour mark.

Of course he was already mentally gone by then.

Oh and 0-7 vs Arsenal. I would have sacked him before he got to the dressing room but I am a hard taskmaster.

The cup display was terrible but what the he'll are you on about 0-7 against arsenal?

Moyes had just gotten us 4th and had the team go out and celebrate the team was still drunk when they played arsenal.

May of been a bit irresponsible as a manager but it was things like that that got our team spirit as a team and got the players to run through brick walls for moyes for our club. That's how we became "the best if the rest".

I'd kill for our current team to hav 1/10th of the team spirit we had under moyes.

Makes you wonder on the meagre budget and with those lazy players he had to work with how Moyes had us finishing where we did in the prem.

Moyes would of gone by 2003/04 if it was now. Moyes' excellent job didnt happen over night. Hence why we cant start pining for his best of teams (07-10) as he'd been in the job for 8 years by then, given the time and the space to make mistakes both on the pitch and in the transfer market

Embarrassing for us humble fans stood in the ground though, and very disrespectful which was prescient when you consider the manner of his eventual departure.

I already said mate, we are Everton, we don't get beat 7-0, I dont care what happened before hand. People paid to go and watch that. Totally unacceptable to me (I was equally as fuming with the 5-1 battering by Dynamo Bucharest a few months later...)

So we got 4th, got battered 7-0, failed to qualify for the Champions League and then got a hammering by the 3rd best team in Bucharest. What was the point of getting 4th?

As I said already I am a hard taskmaster. I don't accept stuff like 7-0 hammerings, we are not Ipswich etc.

Before the 1st leg against Bucharest I booked flights and hotel for 2nd leg. 3 days' leave and a wad of cash expended on a completely meaningless game as it turned out. Timmy scored "consolation" winner but I really had some explaining to do to myself, never mind my family, for wasting about €700 and the 3 days leave.

I have been much more careful about choice of games since then although recent years, like all of you, have been pretty underwheming.

The 0-7 against Arsenal was humiliation. I went into work next day with my brightest smile and a tie to match, and repeated the mantra " Champions' League...you're havin' a laugh. " the problem was they were laughing at us in the end. Collina incident aside we were brutal in the EL.

Why is it so painful to support this club in the past 32 years??

I am sickened by what I see in the famous RBJ.

I know someone who played under Moyes and he always says that this was his great skill as a manager. According to him, the players didn't love him, but they respected him and loved playing for him, because he was straight with you and expected exactly the same things from all his players. He didn't care if you were a 19 year old making your debut, a journeyman pro, or the star of the team, he expected you to put a shift in and follow instructions. If you did, he was happy, if you didn't you heard about it.

*edit* My personal opinion is this is why he failed at United, because their players didn't buy into that mentality and some players thought they were above others. He didn't know how to deal with that and so the whole thing fell apart for him.

I think the Moyes era has suffered enormously because of revisionism. We played lots of good stuff under him and he rarely had any money to spend. There seems to be a lot of softening towards him from fans, I do wonder if that process will continue?

He wouldn't be who I would go for. Not because I don't think he did an excellent job last time, but more because I think he has shown the ability for him to repeat his work outside of that context he inherited (i.e. a skint club, slowly building) has not really been shown.

That being said, if he came in I wouldn't be against it. I think he knows the institution and has some grasp of what the fans want. I think these things make a difference. I also think he would carry with him a certain degree of confidence which is always important in any industry-but particularly football. If we wanted a calm, solid 2-3 years then I think he'd be a real safe pair or hands, similar to what Allardyce offered us but probably less obtuse than Allardyce (most a comment on Allardyce than Moyes to be fair) but also one who probably fits into the "system" under Brands more easily.

Personally I'd rather we went for a more risky, exotic coach from a European league. However I'd really not be too concerned if Moyes came back for a bit. There is always an outside chance he's learnt from his experiences post Everton.

I remember Blackburn getting rid of allerdyce because they got beat 5-0 by man u, apparently they were too good for that result. Where did that decision leave them.

I think we can all agree that champions league draw was a farce with what happened to us.

Cant argue against this although I dont think Moyes would work under a DOF.

I would just be happy at this stage to get rid of Silva and worry about the new guy when they join.

Horrible stuck with a manager you never wanted and who you know is destined to be a failure.

Moshiri may aswell have appointed O'Neill or Pardew ffs.

These results do happen from time to time United lost to city 6-1 under Ferguson and he's the greatest manager to of ever lived.

I think there was more things working against Blackburn than just getting rid of Allardyce.

Cant help it, it's just how I feel. To put it on a more everyday scenario. If you work in McDonald's and you work hard, do your job and are generally good in your role but burn the fries once or twice your manager will maybe question you over it but he wont sack you. If you take a dump in the fryer and then serve whats in the fryer to customers then you will get sacked regardless of what good work you have done in the past.

A 7-0 defeat is my footballing version of crapping in the fryer. Not acceptable.

The Bucharest game was shocking, probably the angriest I have ever been supporting Everton. (Think about that for a minute...that covers some ground!) I remember sat there watching it with some mates and after about half an hour we were laughing at how bad Dynamo were, possibly one of the worst sides I had ever seen and then all of a sudden we were 5 down!

Think the only other times I have come close to that anger was the derby Semi final loss and the derby this season.
