If Silva is sacked - who could/should we get?

I'd like to see a British manager given a chance. Look at the success we've had with foreign managers over the years. Martinez had 1 good season then quickly went downhill. Koeman had 6 good games then went downhill and Silva has stayed at the bottom of the hill since day one.
It's become the fashion to appoint foreign managers thinking they're better, more tactical or going to attract better players. But most foreign managers get sacked within a couple of years. There's no proven track record of success from most of them. Fair enough the top 6 have mainly had foreign managers for the last 10 years or more but look below that and the turnover of managers has been staggering.
If we're going to take a punt on a manager I'd prefer to take a punt on an English manager. Give them a chance like we did with Moyes. Eddie Howe is the obvious choice, he's done OK with Bournemouth but he was never going to be any better than OK with the resources they have. Give him some money and a man like Brands to help him build a better squad. Teach the players how to defend a set piece and who knows what could happen. I'm sure there must be more options out there than just Howe, there really should be more but there are so many foreign managers that the English/British ones just aren't getting the chances.

(FYI, I voted remain and fully support the freedom of movement and allowing foreigners in to the country to work and I am well aware that everything I've said above goes against that but we're not talking about a plasterer on a building site, this is a £4m+ a year job managing one of the top clubs in the country.)

So what you're saying is, you don't mind them foreign types coming over and cleaning your toilet or being a shoeshiner, but when it comes to jobs that English people might actually want and that pay a lot of money, they should get to the back of the queue? I get you Tommy, I mean Rob.

No, what I'm saying it there have been loads of failed foreign managers in the English leagues so I don't see any benefit to appointing a foreign manager over an English manager.

I think the difficulty is, we haven't really gone for a foreign manager with any degree of pedigree in European Leagues. Silva has a bit, but not a great deal.

That being said, it might be an astute time to pick up a manager like Dyche who may be what the time needs for 2-3 years.

I totally forgot about Dyche. I'd take him over Howe any day of the week. He's done an amazing job at Burnley, he's a good, honest manager that deserves a chance at a bigger/richer club.
He could be our next David Moyes but with more money and some degree of success. I guarantee he'd make us harder to beat than the last few managers we've had.
