Confirmed Signing Iliman Ndiaye

For me it is not as much about writing off. More about the timing of the transfer and that we clearly are paying way too much for him.

If we had signed him last season, a year younger and at the back of a good season in the Championship, it would be entirely different than paying the same amount of money for him now after he had a very poor season.

Knowing arguably 80-90% of offensive players will look better in a team that is not managed by Sean Dyche than in a team managed by him, I am not sure if Ndiaye is the type of player we should spend so much money on.

Last season plan A, B and C was to play long balls towards DCL. Often from Pickford. Which was OK when DCL played, as his hold up play is good. He'll win headers and does more than what he'll ever get credit for. As soon DCL didn't play, the ball turned into a boomerang. We could not keep the ball and the entire team always ended up very deep.

I know that people in here mostly see Ndiaye as a 10, but both for Sheffield United and Marseille he had most of his minutes playing as a center forward. How he'll do as a 10 in Premier League is yet to be seen. What we do know is that when it comes to hold up play, winning headers and duels, he seems to be as useful as Maupay.

When Dyche would bench prime Aguero for Chris Wood, there is a big chance he'll bench Ndiaye for Doucoure.
All of this true but maybe a little bit reductive imo.

Dyche definitely has a direct playstyle but I think that partly came from the necessity to grind out results in the most reliable way.

Compare how we set up pre and post points deduction. Pre, we were a lot more front foot and our attacks largely came from quick turnovers by pressing the opponent's defense and 6.

In that time we dropped a lot of results we should have won because one of the most important players in that system is the second striker/10 - which was Doucoure and that's clearly not his strength.

A fast turnover with someone like Ndiaye is a lot more dangerous. This just my opinion but I feel like Dyche wanted to play the way we played pre deduction but saw through the results and awful finishing that we couldn't so changed our style.

If we can implement that again with the right personnel, we'll be more dangerous and better to watch.

He’s not a similar style player to Maupay?

And who cares about height? Are we moving to the NBA?
No. He has the ability to run from deep with the ball as well as take it on the half turn. A far more mobile, creative player than Maupay. That said Dyche has to play him in the Doucoure role - will he? I'm not sure

I repeat, he looks a million miles better than doucoure so he's an upgrade.

We might as well have played with 10 men for the last half of the season than witg doucoire, he was awful in almost every minute of every game in that period,
While that is hyperbolic nonsense which will play to a foolish audience, its an interesting move that shows an intent to develop our playing style
