2024/25 Iliman Ndiaye

I cant see us buying a first choice striker. We need other places more urgently IMO. Maybe a support striker for Beto. But I think he's fine to lead especially with Ndiaye, Alcaraz and a couple other new midfielders..

Or maybe im losing my mind?
He can score goals if you play to his strengths but we need a nine with much better hold up skills and ariel threat, even if we are keeping Beto as a option. I think if we got our money back or even around 20m we probably sell and use Chermiti as a back up. For me our number one position that needs strengthening is right wing followed by number nine and left back. We also likely need a back up CB and midfielder and a right back too.

….if we buy a striker, I’d hope it’s with the ambition of him being first choice. We have to build from the top down, bit pointless buying footballers who are only good enough to be 2nd best.
We could have had Ekitike. We should have been in the mix for Delap. It's not like options haven't been there. I suppose we're lucky to have Ndiaye and Alcaraz. I'm going to admit I'm not sure on Tim Iroegbunam , a great summer...

Hes not very good im afraid, I enjoyed his little purple patch, but his head went after Flekken terrored him.

Im hoping he rams my words down my throat over the next few games, but I dont think hes very good.

I will support him fully for the record, but I think we could and should try and do better.
I think there are other positions we should prioritize first. If you aren't bringing in the best candidate possible, you have failed. Striker is one of the most difficult positions to fill and the most costly. The odds that we find a "bad" one like Beto that produces even less are very high. And Beto has helped us through a massive lossless streak without Ndiaye and McNeil. Definitely have to see if someone is available on the market or we can get a young promising one for a steal. We may have to break club records which would potentially gut our potential to fill the other positions. He has to be damned good.

Looked rusty which is what you'd expect. Can see why we rolled the dice with him but hard game to come back in for. By the time he came on we already looked spent.
