2024/25 Iliman Ndiaye

Why he isn't allowed to play in the number 10 role I have no idea, same with Lindstrom, both are not wingers.

I don't think it'd change things too much. He'd still have to beat 2 or 3 to try and create a chance. What he needs is players around him he can link up with.

The movement from whoever plays centre forward is consistently dreadful, Doucoure is anti football and the two centre mids + full backs are so limited in the attacking third there's no point in them crossing the half way line.

I agree, whoever plays up front is alone with no one around him. I wounder why we never score?

I think he's arguably the best outfield player we have had post-Ancelotti and we are wasting his talent.
He is good at running with the ball. And to win free kicks.

He might be quick at running, but often slow down the attack by using too many touches.

His finishing seems under average.

His passing is all over the place. Doucoure-esque. The vast majority of passes is behind the target, overhit, bouncing around or comes knee high. Just about good enough to get him decent pass completion stats, but never allowing whoever he pass a ball to to continue without eiter stopping or taking an extra touch. It kills whetever rhytm and flow our attacking play has (not much to be fair).

I still remember his beutiful assist from the last international break. A perfectly weighted pass. Still waiting to see that side of his game in an Everton shirt.

I'll give him one thing. His work rate and defensive output has improved massively since the start of the season.

By all means, I get why many rate him, but I also get why Marseille were very happy to get their money back after having him a year. Palace getting Ismaila Sarr from Marseille for less money seems have gotten the better deal.

I get some of that but I'd counter that perhaps he thinks ( correctly) that he is the only player with a spark of creativity and as a consequence often tries to do too much.

He's the only player we have who doesn't play the "obvious" pass. In trying more difficult passes he is bound to give the ball away more than a player who just passes sideways.

Do you think Ismaila Sarr would look even remotely similar here?

Ndiaye is a talented player in need of development and every week that goes by with Dyche as his manager is a wasted week of getting better. Until we can find a way to let him play with consistent attacking support and get him the ball in good areas more consistently we just aren’t going to see what he might be capable of.

Because the manager said there's no evidence to suggest he can play that role.

And he knows best .....right ?......RIGHT ?.

But Doucs is doing a good job.
Personally don’t have a problem with Ndiaye as a LW playing inside a good deal with an overlapping fullback as an idea. But when the overlapping fullback doesn’t really overlap and is still Mykolenko when he does, and Ndiaye as a result is forced wider than would be ideal because of it, you sort of lose what might be useful about it.

That said under no circumstances should McNeil ever be on the left again. Harrison shouldn’t either. So the options dwindle quickly.

Couple of times he ended up running the width of the pitch because red so little nonevent/he already knows if he passes to certain players it will break down.

Relying on him to keep us up essentially.

He would thrive if we had players making runs beyond the striker from midfield, someone dictating play and making creative passes from midfield, and an attacking overlapping full-back. He has a great skill-set but it is a team game and our team is set up to stifle, not create.

I do think Sarr would be a better fit for Everton, yes. As he is a right winger and much better than Gnonto we have wasted time trying to attract to the club.

Actually I'd say that Ndiaye has developed a lof playing under Dyche. The first few matches he looked lost out of possession. Offered nothing defensively. At least there is some effort now, and while he are nowhere near offering the defensive output McNeil and Harrison do, he keeps improving.

The ability to be able to perform basic passing of the ball should be there before the club paid £15 million for him. Ancelotti, Benitez, Lampard and Dyche have all failed to learn Doucoure to pass the ball. Why should we expect that Dyche can learn a 25 year old Ndiaye to master the basics?

There seems to be a thing amongst fans that they love an underdog story. A Niasse that wasn't good enough to play in the Norwegian 3rd division. A Beto that spend his youth years playing grassroots football while working at KFC. A Ndiaye that spent his maybe most important seasons for development playing for Boreham Wood. They've all done well for themselves. They made it. But they all suffer from not knowing the basics they could or should have learned at a good academy.

By all means, he's been OK. He does excite. But I don't really see the high potential others are talking about. He's an upgrade on Demarai Gray. Good enough to start matches for this Everton team. But he'd struggle to get starts more than a handful teams in the league.
