Rooney performs, and has done since he arrived on the scene.
Gerrard performs, and has done since he arrived on the scene.
Joe Cole performs... etc......

You need to have that performance, what;s the point of having someone who is just going to win you free-kicks?

Don't get me wrong he has talent, but he has a really high opinion of himself, and as Carlton Palmer once said about his kid who wanted gold coloured boots.

"Get some World Cup's first".

Do you know what I mean?

Rooney and Gerrard are world class and I've seen them have quite a few bad games for England during there time.

I seem to remember a young Joe Cole flattering to decieve for England. Once he matured and was given a chance he did the buisness.

Some players don't do it straight away, everyones different at the end of the day. Young has hardly been given a chance, just the odd half a game here and there or a start in a disjointed England friendly side.

Yeah but when your standing around with your hands on your hips it's not good for the manager to see.

Young can't afford to waste any chances he gets because this country will develop world class players at every position. When they come along is a different matter, but every player gets their place because of performance.

Defoe for me is a perfect example. One of the best finishers in the league, and the quickest with the ball. yet he hardly took his chances until recently. It's cut throat and your either good enough or your not, and you will be found out.

Because Defoe gets the odd game here and there to impress, it's not always that easy. Especially when your playing alongside players who your not used to playing with.

You could say the same about Rooney, how long was it before he scored for England? He went on a massive run of games where he rarely scored.

And Young can only do so much, we've all seen how bad England's style of play is. It's slow, unpredictable and unimaginative. As you said yourself, anyone would struggle playing alongside a team where the centre mids pass backwards and rarely face the play.

World class players in every position? I seriously doubt it mate. There's no much coming through outwide, Ashley's Young is England best option at the moment, by quite a distance.

I missed most of the first half tonight , but saw enough of the second half to see Milner looking very good on the wing .
The lad does a good job at getting crosses in , but rarely comes inside .
For me , Wright Phillips is quickly becoming a waste of a position , and can run at guys , but never knows what to do with the ball .

Johnson could be an Achilles heal for Liverpool this season , as though he's ok going forward , he really isn't a great defender . I wouldn't swap him for Hibbert to be honest .

Lampard needed too many touches tonight , and that Barry mistake might wipe the daft grin off his face and bring him down a peg or two .

Can't wait for Joe Cole to get fit again . I think he will be needed if we are to have a realistic chance .
Would love him at Everton .

Mexico 2 US 1. The US still unable to get a win in Mexico City.

Anybody see the match?

Just saw the highlights b/c it was only on the Spainsh language network which I don't get. The 1st goals by Mexico and the US were sick. Davies finish was nasty and Donovan's pass to unlock him was world class.

Timmy had a couple sweet saves and had excellent position on Mexico's 1st goal, its just the shot was better than perfect.

With a little more exp Davies looks like he could develop into a Andy Johnson type player if AJ was 2 steps faster. Donovan, well, in my opinion there's no player in the world that has the talent he has who could be picked up for under 8M.

DosSantos looks like he's starting to show promise wouldn't mind a loan deal at all. Reminds me a bit of Fernandes.

Bradley got critized again for trying for the win and putting Feihaber and Holden in. I liked the stragety. We've pretty much qualified, a loss or tie doesn't help or hurt us. We needed to go for the win to keep up an outside chance of snatching a No.1 seed or getting the final Tier 2 slot.
