Even Carrick struggles in this area, he has a tendency to pass the way he's facing. This area of his game was exposed when he was asked to take responsibilty in the Champions League final.

Players like Scholes are always facing the play, he turns so quickly on the ball and just gets it out of his feet. With players like Barry and Carrick it's more 'control the ball, think about it, think about it, turn slightly, pass to your fullback and run forward'.

Beckham would probably be the best option in this England squad, that says it all really.

He'd be good there I think. Or maybe have a -

Carrick/Barry Beckham
Walcott Gerrard Joe Cole

It's a little slow, you'd need someone with legs to help Beckham through games. Hargreaves would be perfect if he could keep himself fit or Gerrard if he had some discipline.

Just recall the Ginger Prince or convince Arteta that he’s got some English blood. Don’t the Basque’s have similar DNA to people from Western Europe? I'm sure Ghost would be up for it.

Rooney was 17.

Well James Milner is a right sided midfielder. But I would probably build a player out of plasticine like Tony Hart did in Morph. Nobody else is up for the job.

Ashley Young I'd say - just give the lad a chance. He's the most impressive English winger in the Premier League at the moment.

He's got more about him than Walcott to be honest who's future is upfront, as a striker.

He dives, he's got a massive ego. He has potential I grant you, but he needs to assert himself more. Tonight was a perfect opportunity and he messed up. Did he even touch the ball in the second half?

Walcot's not a striker IMO. Never seen him play upfront and open my eyes to how amazing he could be as a striker.

He's probably one of the quickest players in the world and all he's ever done to make people take notice is on the right wing.

Dont mind Milner...but there's something about him that just feels off for me. Maybe its because he's not particularly execeptional at anything, he's just good. Would work well on the left like he did today.

Do prefer Lennon or Wright Philips him at the moment.

Rooney dives, Gerrard dives, Joe Cole's done his fair share of diving. The list goes on and on, the best players usually do.

He just needs games really, a good run in the side. I actually think he's a bit overrated but he's England's best option.

Rooney performs, and has done since he arrived on the scene.
Gerrard performs, and has done since he arrived on the scene.
Joe Cole performs... etc......

You need to have that performance, what;s the point of having someone who is just going to win you free-kicks?

Don't get me wrong he has talent, but he has a really high opinion of himself, and as Carlton Palmer once said about his kid who wanted gold coloured boots.

"Get some World Cup's first".

Do you know what I mean?

Walcott is a striker, naturally. Arsene Wenger has said that as has Theo Walcott himself. Whether he ever develops into a good one is yet to be seen, he hasn't really been given a chance as of yet.
