Is Pienaar Looking Elsewhere ?

Fletch

Player Valuation: £5m
On the Everton website there is an interview with Stevie P, mainly saying he can be the playmaker whilst Mikel is injured, however he says this at the end which worried me a bit ?? Am I being paranoid. :(

With so much on his plate at present, the former Ajax man is putting all thoughts of his long-term future on hold.

"Pienaar explained: “I’m enjoying it here but we’ll wait and see what happens at the end of the season.

“For now I just want to concentrate on the games we’ve got left, playing my best for Everton and seeing what happens after that.”

I'm not to worried but I guess after the Fernandes situation last year it's quite understandable that we can worry we might not sign Pienaar!

I don't think the OS would have put an interview up saying a player wants to move on.

I thnik you maybe reading too much into it fletch, Pienaar wouldn't be as daft as to join a big club and sit on there bench like he did for dortmund.

The fans love him, The club loves him, He's said he loves the club.

It's all about getting it on paper I reckon. Theres no better team to showcase his talents then Everton at the moment.

I agree, I think that statement is all about him saying he's leaving the business side to the clubs and that he' concentrating on keeping his form up.

They want to sell, we want to buy, Pienaar wants to come here, I cant see there being too many problems here.

He is saying "I want to concentrate on my football, I cant be arsed messing my head up with contract bollocks, leave that till the end of the season"

which is good, it gives the impression that he is more bothered about his football than the details of any future contract.

He would be mad to leave everton, and he knows this.

I think we're all getting a bit paranoid, both with Pienaar and Moyes. As Kenright said recently, the players and managers are thinking about the next game, as they should be. It's an exciting time for the club and I'm glad that they're focused on what's at hand rather than contractual negotiations. Lets win the UEFA and get that 4th spot and sort out the contracts in the summer.

He can't be that worried if he is prepared to play with his hair like it was on Sunday, skipping rope and gymslips come to mind

You've gotta wonder whos telling him that look good havent you?

Worried me a little too. Reading between the lines he's probably got to be disappointed that a deal hasn't been concluded by now.
Also, I checked the stats - he wasn't a bench sitter at Dortmund - he played in nearly ever game that he was available for selection and appartently was a key player at a stage of the season when Dortmund looked like they could go down.
He apparently just wanted out of there - wasn't made to feel welcome, 3 coaches in 12 months, he was being the main guy blamed when the team didn't perform etc. But he wasn't a poor player there by any means and he certainly was top at Ajax for 5 years before that.
I just think that the Blues should get the deal done and stop messing about. Cars has done great but is getting on now; Fernandes is on loan; Arteta is apparently getting married soon and I'm sure that his missus is going to want to stay in Spain; Neville and Jags are no midfielders; Ossie has done well but ...... it shows we are threadbare in the midfield.
Lets at least get one more signed up that we know can do the business in our team, who has a great character and who can be a leader. The transfer fee seems agreed and within reason, the wages shouldn't be a reason for this deal not to go through.
COYB!

We're Evertonians, so worrying is second nature. Im hopeful because he seems to love it here, the vast majority of fans want him to stay and a fee has been agreed. All indications that he will stay long -term

He'll be staying here, i'm 100% convinced of that, though i expect his parent club to try and screw us for more cash than the reported and agreed £2.5m.

Daft isn't it. I guess football fans are conditioned to think players/managers are dirty rats that would sell their mother for an extra fiver. Moyes is loyal to our club and will sign a new contract when he can dedicate his time to thrashing it out rather than thrashing the opposition. Ditto Pienaar.
