Is Premier League Boring?

There’s zero competition outside of a few teams who have been up there for about 25 years (and actually it wasn’t much more competitive before that).

If you have a good player they’re going to leave and join one of those teams. If they’re good, not great there’s a good chance a Saudi club will come in for them on silly money.

The vogue play style is one that needs really good players to play but is also incredibly boring to watch.

Things like diving, making a meal out of any contact and timewasting have become accepted and encouraged parts of the game, whilst making a “big tackle” is likely called a foul fair or not for being “dangerous”

VAR means you can’t go full “limbs” because something requiring zooming in to the individual pixel groups might rule the goal out AND it’s a tool to favour certain clubs.

Footballers have been in bubbles since the start of their academy days and have absolutely no concept of real life and they’re so well media trained that they just come across as lacking in personality and impossible to relate to.

Armchair “fans” behind computers and televisions in other continents are more valuable than STH’s and the communities most of these previously working class clubs have grown from.

TL;DR: it’s as soulless cash grab just like everything but the actual sport it’s pants to watch now too.

It’s just crap.

It's hugely boring. Used to love watching all footy. Now just watch Everton and that's it. It's crap.
This I suspect is more and more the case. I only watch Everton, even when I have the chance to watch another game 9 times out of 10 I don't.

It's not just this season with the obvious accusation toward blues that it is only because of the table, I've switched off for at least 5 years now even when it was city winning everything.

When teams only lose 2 or 3 games a season routinely something is very wrong with the competition.

Seems most of you on here absolutely hate football.

I don’t like VAR at all but I’ve enjoyed watching a lot of teams this year. Bournemouth, Villa, Brentford, Newcastle, Fulham.. they play some cracking stuff at times.

Let’s be honest for the first half of this season, we played the most turgid tripe since Wimbledon were in the league. WE were the boring team.

100 %, echoes my thoughts entirely. Capitalism in sport kills the soul of the sport, the top clubs moan about too many games yet are happy with the revenue gained by the expanded 'champions' league and this new world club cup. So much so they insist the domestic calendar has less games and the FA Cup without replays and the farce of the league Cup when those 'champions' leagues teams and europa league teams were not allowed to be drawn against each other in the 3rd round has basically ruined our 2 domestic cup competitions. Then to compound the lie about there's too many games the players are whisked away for a cash grab on pre season tours. No wonder the players look burnt out and injuries are increasing

It does seem quite odd that people spent 2 years complaining that our style of football was boring and we needed to play more like other teams, but are now saying the way everyone else plays is boring. I’m not entirely sure how people think football needs to be played in order to not be boring, and at what point in history that was the norm.
