one of the reason I became an Evertonian was because we were the first team to have undersoil heating. Seems a real shame that the damn pipes would freeze up. Personally, I feel a bit embarassed for the club, but as one of the apprentices says "The universe speaks louder than me"

Reminds me of when the game against Leeds was called off a few years ago. Eyebrows were raised then too.

Agreed.

Let's just stop blaming the club for everything that does go wrong. We were the pioneers of that purposed build undersoil heating and probably should be surprised and gratefull, it took that much time to finallly collapse.

It comes with the territory, and I personally wouldn't swap that Grand Old Lady of ours for any modern, state of the art football ground.

I know we're all dissapointed (was really looking forward to it), but let's blame the winter here, not the club.

Had tickets for that one. Would've left Amsterdam Schiphol at around 9am. Severe snow storms made flying impossible though, and we only left at 5pm. First thing I hear after arriving in my hotel, was that the match had been called off. Went to Goodison next morning an you were literally walking on a surface of ice. Think the club did the only right thing at the time. Would've been very dangerous for everyone who wanted to visit.

17 years ago mate , due to fog - (couldn't believe it myself)

No, 2000 I think. Leeds were flying and we were on our arse (as per during the Walter S miff period) and the ground was *unplayable* and the roads around the ground were *treacherous*. I remember there being whispers at the time it was *coughs* convenient. A shareholder neighbour of mine at the time got chatting at that year's AGM with groundstaff and was alarmed at what he was told re the postponement. Hearsay, of course.
