Do I understand correctly that he has a 16 millions pound release clause which is valid as long as leeds is in the championship...so technically we could sign him at the end of the season independently of what happens with leeds.

I believe there is a clause (ive read around £22m) which we can invoke before the end of the loan. If we end up invoking that, then it would mean he has done well for us, so fingers crossed.

So basically, we have no obligation or option, but looks like there may be a relegation release clause which lasts during this season (which is separate to the relegation loan clause where he could leave on loan for free).

Yes, the clause is not part of the loan agreement. His contract with Leeds holds the release clause and circumstances it can be enacted
