Jack Rodwell

Never rated him as a player but had warm feelings for him after he left because he went the right way, club got a great deal and he never piped up with anything.

That documentary on Netflix though saw my estimation of him plummet. He was already a multi-millionaire yet wouldn't agree to cancel his contract which could have saved many folks jobs. Selfish and stupid, like many modern footballers sadly. Wouldn't ever welcome back in any capacity now after that, we're a club that should only want good people in our doors.

Absolute nonsense.

Not running the club into the ground through a series of awful business decisions would have saved many folks jobs. Not taking the entire squad away for a mid season jolly at the same time as announcing the culling of back office jobs might have been seen as less selfish. Rodwell cancelling his contract would not have saved a single job - there was zero interest in doing that. It was just framed that way to try and deflect criticism of those who gave massive contracts to poor players.

Martin Bain, former Chief Exec and the man who made those decisions, walked away with a near £2M payoff after two consecutive relegations and all those decisions. Do you seriously think he was after getting Rodwell out to save the job of Charlotte or Joe in the ticket office?

Roma have already decided not to offer him a contract. Seems remarkably quick to me.

Not really quick. If someone's obviously not of the level required then it's not difficult to see that over a few training sessions.

A fair assessment of an awful situation. I feel sorry for the non playing staff but the mismanagement was from the people tasked to run the job.

Something Sunderland fans forget is Moyes was willing to stay at the club and get them back into the Premier League, and put together a plan to make that happen. It would have required investment, but not in the levels that Ashley, for example, made at Newcastle.

The owner Short would not make any funds available as he wanted to cut his losses and get rid of the club. Moyes then resigned.

They make out that Moyes is responsible for all their ills, but it was actually a decade of mismanagement that put them in a massive hole.

Can’t believe yet another premier league team are sniffing round him.

Does not deserve to play football for money , at any level. If he signed for a newly promoted league 2 club I would say the exact same.

The only time he has ever showed anything close to the attributes required to be a professional footballer is when he was 14 and built like an adult , playing against lads in year 9 at school.

He should thank his lucky stars every waking moment of his life that he game through with us who were willing to invest all the time and resource we did into his career, had he come up the ranks at Bolton he would never have played professional football at any level

I’d forgotten about him if I’m honest. Scored a late goal against a tired United at Goodison, we got good money for an Academy lad who wasn’t even a first team regular - I remember him more for cameo on Netflix and also his red card getting rescinded against Liverpool more than him having a Premier League winners medal and being capped by England if I’m honest,

Danny Drinkwater and Jack Rodwell. Multi millionaires both, with league titles and England caps but wondering where did it go wrong? Football eh.

Yeah, except he wasn’t working though was he? He was sat off in the treatment room and the gym, refusing to play and filling his pockets.
He got offered moves, but wouldn’t take them. He’s a gobsh1te
- Mate, do you fancy meat packing in different factory. Same job half the money.
- errr no mate
