Indeed. Proper shenanigans again. But not complaining as they did do a nice swap for Tim with us.
Ipswich matched Villas bid of £18m when he went there (although Villa paid less due to buyback), so he knew they wanted him, same as Kev did.
The stupidest thing about it is the market decided he was worth £18m last window as that’s what 2 separate clubs offered Hull. Now he is worth £21m despite showing no signs at all that he is PL ready. Not had that many chances to do so, but that’s the point. The market knows nothing more about his abilities than they did 6 months ago, and yet Ipswich putting themselves in increasing PSR danger by upping his value based on pretty much nothing (they have lower limit due to seasons in the EFL).
No wonder our negative net spending has shafted us. Players don’t want to be improved, they want the next move, and clubs are willing to give it to them out of desperation.
Everyone has known for months that the takeover would be completed in time for the January window. Thelwell should have been ready with a list of players to go straight into the first team. Instead, he's again just trying to sign the same players he's tried to sign previously. Look forward to see us being linked with Gnonto in the next few days. Wish we'd sign some exciting, pacy players from outside the Premier League.
