Throw shaka, not shade.

Blackpool forward Jake Daniels has come out, at 17 years old. This is an incredibly courageous act, I hope he gets the support he deserves from his club and team mates and those fans with our heads on right will find equivalent courage to shout down the inevitable asshats who'll either hurl abuse or seek to make an issue of it.

Amazing courage from a 17yo lad. Heartbreaking to know the crap he’s going to have to take on the pitch but hopefully he’ll see that this legacy he’s created for himself will far outweigh all of that in the long run.

Yep, any time there is a first they invariably take the brunt of the vitriol and abuse that follows.

Hopefully the league, FA and clubs back him and punish fans/players who abuse him (as you can guarantee there will be players who are just as bad)

Im hoping now that he has done this, more slowly start following.

That has to be the hope. Horrible to think how many players must be struggling with having to hide who they are.

Lovely to hear how supportive his youth teammates have been prior to him going public, too. There’s hope for the youth yet!

Best of luck to the lad, in his life and his football career - football is a great game (or was before the corruption) but it’s attitude To everyday stuff like this and racism is still in the dark ages and it needs to modernise, so he’s incredibly brave and I hope other players follow his great example and come out to live their best lives. Why should they have to hide?

You hope right minded fans stamp out any rubbish that happens from the terraces, as they should with racism.

We’ve got gay doctors, nurses, lawyers, brickies, barman/women without any problem - why should football and footballers have to be any different?
