2024/25 James Garner

I can’t imagine feeling anything but pride for being a blue after watching Jimmy. That’s what a poor mindset does to a club and its fans. The longer you struggle the more you kind of relish it and wear it like a badge. Not me. I want us to crawl out of this phase and never look back. Yesterdays game should have pumped life into anyone who calls themselves an Evertonian.

It’s great he had a good game, but the ‘best midfielder since Arteta’ shouts and the £60 million valuation is a bit on the premature side of things..

We get so carried away because we've been so crap for so long. This remains a poor squad with poor players. Hopefully Moyes can get the likes of Garner to step up but needs more than a good performance against Leicester.

I don’t think a player would rush their rehab or bend the truth on how they feel. But wouldn’t you push yourself to get back on the field playing for Moyes who focuses on your strengths rather than knowing once you’re better you’re strictly a defensive midfielder.

Can understand why Spurs were trying to unsettle him about 18 months or so back. Very capable and consistent. Just ticks over quite happy.

My thoughts on Garner in most games: He is good at everything. Has the size, pace and strength. He checks all the boxes. He just needs to do certain things to elevate his game. Like that pass for example. Being a good player is never a bad thing. But stats do matter at the end of the day. Those G's and A's win you games. He isn't the only one that needs to get involved, but you want him to start being a threat.
