Does the work Keane did for the successful United sides. He's not at Keane's level like, but if he develops at the same rate, in 2 or 3 years, we'll have a world class midfielder on our hands.

He'd have had an amazing assist today if Naisy had managed to deflect his shot past the keeper.
Once his first goal goes in he'll be scoring 8 to 10 a season.

think 8-10 is a bit of a stretch.

5/6 next season would be great like, he's not a goalscorer tbh, but he's had a fair few assists this season and is so influential to how we play.

I doubt he will ever score a goal, NEA tho, its not his job, his job is to chase the ball and tackle like a demon for 90 whole minutes and he does it like nodody else ive ever seen.

Aye, true that, I'm getting a bit giddy, he didn't score many for the PieEaters. I just have a feeling that some time in the near future scoring will just "click" with him and he'll become more of a box-to-box midfielder than we're seeing at the moment.

Definitely overpaid for him - hence the timing of the signing and Martinez' own admission.

Of course, at the time we didn't know we just added the surcharge on to Fellaini's fee

Defo my player of the season. shading Coleman.

He is the exact opposite of a highlights player.

Watch us live and it is clear he is really good but I've yet to even hear his name in commentary on a highlights show.

Maybe this already posted, if so no apologies!! :D it is worth reading again.

From Daily Star on Friday:
GARETH BARRY believes James McCarthy is as good as the best midfielders he has played with.
The on-loan Manchester City midfielder has been impressed with the Republic of Ireland international during his season-long spell at Goodison Park.
Barry, 33, has played alongside some of the world’s best during his career including Yaya Toure at City and Steven Gerrard while on international duty with England.
But he still believes 23-year-old McCarthy is up there with the top midfielders he has played alongside.

He said: “Until you play with someone week in week out it is hard to judge how good they are.
“I’ve played against him and known he was a good player but until you play with someone and train every day you don’t really know.
“James, considering he is so young, he is so mature and knows exactly what to do in every situation.
“It is great for the club that they have a player at that level so young.
“James for me is up there and in terms of playing alongside and influencing games he is up with the best I’ve played with already.
“He is still young and he will say himself he has still a lot to learn.
"I’m 33 and still learning as he will find out.
“In terms of maturity and understanding the game he is up there with the best.”

He will score goals eventually - he travels over so much ground reminds me of a John Hurst type player Mr Dependable - you will notice when he is not playing as he appears all over the pitch doing unselfish work for others in attack and defence!
