On the face of it it looked like a lot of money at the time for just another loyal lieutenant from Wigan but he's proven to be a fantastic signing, selling Fellaini for £27m and getting McCarthy in for £13m in the dying hours of that transfer window was a master stroke by the club. All involved should feel very smug about that piece of business.

....I was worried that he was doing all/most of his shopping in Wigan but as you say it's proven to be a fine signing.

One of the best combined pieces of business by any club in any recent window

And to think he is only 22- how many players at his age play this position - he is only going to get better with experience

I think he's started to impose himself more on games a bit more now. He seems to get forward a bit more and against Lille he made a few sharp passes in the final third.

RS carraghar is creaming himself over james in his column in the mail. that will go down well with his previous employers.

It certainly made loads (me included) look foolish, always assumed he was bang average but since he has turned up he has been absolutely immense; I cant think of one team in the country he wouldnt walk into.

to be fair he was doing a similar job for wigan just in a gash team. helps immensely that we have talented players that can make the most of his ability ie, barry, coleman, barkley baines ect
