Seems a distant memory now but McCarthy was playing out of his skin for us, absolutely imperious around the time of the Lille home game. Shame he was surrounded by conplete dross.

Actually no, it's obvious McCarthy was one of "the plotters".

He was defo faking his injury; Roy Keane put him up to it when he was with the Ireland squad. Keano likes people faking injury.
