At first it was Distin and Howard as the bad eggs, but people are saying Coleman and McCarthy now.

I reckon Robles wants Martinez out and that's why he is being crap.

If McCarthy is mad about contract then its probably him falling out with the board and KENWRONG than Martinez. For all I know we have a no raises policy or we are @#$t and not spending anymore money policy.

....I thought we have a policy of rewarding performance and that McCarthy was next in line for a rise. I doubt we have a no raises policy otherwise the likes of Coleman wouldn't have had his improved contract.

I dont get all this rewarding performances shi*e, he only signed a year ago and is (or was until injury) doing his job well. Players seem to get 'rewarded' with a new contract every year now at a lot of clubs when the have a couple of good games. I bet you wont see our players all knocking on Kenwrights door at the end of the season asking to be 'deducted' for having sh*t seasons. If that's the way they want to do it now, it should work both ways.

It's not a question of rewarding them, it's more a question of improving the compensation if they were to be poached by another team, also reducing that likelihood. By increasing his wages in return for extra years of the contract it not only makes the player less likely to move because any potential financial reason would be lessened, but if they were to go the price would be much higher. It also gives the Club the chance to insert higher release clauses into the contract to ward of possible suitors. Everyone is a winner.

In McCarthy's case it will be to reflect his importance to the team and his position in the Managers future plans, something that was probably underestimated when he signed. That and Barry will have signed on a much higher wage, yet James is more valuable to the team not only on the pitch, but through any sell on when the time eventually comes.
