I know must have been a shock for Mata to go from being coached by ex-translator with no football playing experience to a multi title winning, 50 cap international with 500 top flight games under his belt.

Imagine if Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool were managed by someone who had never even played the game.

Djimi Traore has a Champions League medal. Think about what I'm trying to say.

I like the RTE panel too as they do call it as they see it but Dunphy has his own agendas which he has to get across, i knew he was going to be spouting about holohan after the game as he's been calling for his inclusion now for god knows how long, holohan did well but lost the ball a few times, mccarthy and whelan didn't..........there's the difference i suppose...........as for quinn to be playing ahead of McCarthy, that's barely worth responding too.............I thought McCarthy linked the midfield very well on sunday, especially in the second half
Yeah Mccarthy improved when Whelan went off in the second half. Poor squad of players so never get my hopes up
Not sure Dunphy worries either about going to major tournaments. Too busy getting rubber on Lesson Street with a bag in his pocket!!

England for the euro's and the next world cup. Think theyve turned a corner:)

Dunphy is an idiot..and that is on a good day, regardless of whither he is drunk or sober. Giles was a good player in his day but that was nearly fifty years ago.

Brady was a good pundit, but ever since he was involved during theTrappatoni era I think he has lost his objectivity.

The best pundit is Souness whenever he is on.

I have seen a lot of midfielders in Everton blue that McCarthy cannot hold a candle to. Do not think he is brilliant just does a job.
Fair enough. The biggest compliment I can give McCarthy is that we look such a better side with him in it. It's all about the balance he brings to the side. Yes he doesn't score enough goals or his passing should be better. But we look so more susceptible to conceding when he isn't playing. Maybe it's because he has Barry alongside him whose legs have gone that that makes him appear better than what he is.
How we'd all love a fit Darren Gibson to play alongside macca tell the end of the season. McCarthy has the 'legs' to get around the pitch and break up play and Gibson has the ability to unlock a defence with his vision.

For me I wish RM would start Besic more often and sideline Barry then see how it goes.

That's what everybody thought until Bobby Brown Shoes did it for a couple of matches, it was a rotten pairing.

Not saying it won't get better the more it happens but Besic doesn't have the range of passing to be the forward looking one of the two. If McCarthy does the forward thing then we miss him clearing up

Gibson cant be relied on due to his injury proneness. Hes being paid a salary which a club like Everton cant afford to pay for players who dont play.

The future is clearly Besic and McCarthy.
I'm not disagreeing with you, just pointing out Besic and McCarthy as a pairing hasn't been great so far and that our best pairing so far has been McCarthy and Gibson.

They need games together then we will see some of the best central midfield play since Parkinson and Horne.
