Bryan Oviedo came into our local chip shop today and told me that McCarthy wants 150k a week and a say in team selection, or he's going to LA Galaxy. He didn't even buy any chips, just backed out of the shop staring into my eyes as if that was the only reason he came.
Smells a bit fishy that one m8!!

I thought the story, which has been running for about a year now, was that he wanted wage parity with the likes of Barry, and not that he was looking to leave.

Can't see anyone matching Everton's likely valuation anyway.

He signed for 13 mil and is so so highly regarded by roberto, the contract wouldve factored that in.
that's why it was agreed that it would be reviewed. Both sides were happy to sign and trusted each other. I was certain it was around the £38,000 per week mark but all the reports from the time say around £25,000 which would seem a bit low.
I suppose it's probably around what Besic is on but he's not indispensable.... yet.
But it's nowhere near what Barry/Cleveley are on.

yup, it will be his agent trying to up the stakes a bit as the Club don't seem to be that bothered at all.

Let's look at the facts.

He has traitor blood.

He has stabbed his own country in the back and joined allegiances with a foreign country by the lure of leprechauns gold.

In series one of Peaky Blinders, the Irish people in it who never drinked alcohol were members of the IRA.

James McCarthy does not drink.

The Scottish hate the English.

Tom Clev is English on more money because his blood is pure from traitor blood.

See what's happening, not going to end well this.

FTP!

I can't stand the 'let's give a guy a new contract one year after he signs his last one' mentality. Think it's ridiculous. But James is in year three soon. He's earned it more than likely if his wages aren't commiserate to his level in the squad.

Should be at least on par with Barry, cant believe we will offer more for Cleverly, more important to the team than the likes of injury prone Pienaar and gibson, hell even McGeady is on more than him coming from russia.

More consistant than Mirallas too.

Be really gutted if McCarthy or Stones leave !

You've just made me snigger loudly in a deathly quiet staff room. Of course it was my fault for re reading it and sniggering further, but shame on you all the same.

that's where the signing on fee comes in though. McCarthy was signed in the last hours of the window on a hastily put together contract. Both sides wanted the move to go ahead so it was decided that he'd sign and there would be a proper 'increased' contract once he established himself in the first team. Depending on who you believe he's on £25,000-£38,000 a week currently in comparison to Barry/Cleveley who are on £50,000-£75,000 again depending on who you believe.
James is just after the original contract adjustment he was promised (unless you disagree as the club obviously do that he's established himself in the first team).

A hastily put together contract? I very much doubt it. I reckon they'd been working on a contract for weeks, and the only bit left to negotiate was the fee paid to Wigan.
