He's been training for a week or so according to Martinez.

Ta, missed that.

Struggling to fit him into the side after Barry's performance. Shame that he has such bad fitness issues as I think that pretty much pre-determines that he's going to be 4th/5th choice for Martinez.

Good squad depth though to say the least!

It really is a big problem for Martinez in midfield. a good problem.

If Barry continues in anything like the form he showed last Saturday then he has to play every week.
McCarthy is a player we all know Martinez admires and the fact that he spent 13m of money we can't afford will tell you of the regard he has for the player and intends to play him each week.
In preseason Gibson was the main fulcrum around which our midfield revolved,Martinez spoke about what a good player he is.
As with Moyes,I think Osman will find his way into the team most weeks under RM,a player underrated by supporters but appreciated by professionals.

So, off you go RM,sort that out no pressure.

No, I expected a 6/10 max performance, and we got slightly less than that. He wasn't bad, I haven't said he was bad, but he wasn't good. He was mediocre. Bog standard. Average. Whatever word you want to use. 5/10.

He didn't "do well", he wasn't "good", he wasn't "bad", those are all words that are incorrect.

However, there were instances of play where he was unimpressive that are worth pointing out - his poor pass selection with the through ball to Mirallas, the shirking of responsibility with the pass to Osman, the poor choice to head a ball he should have taken on the chest, the bottling out of a 50/50 etc. If he had done something impressive, I'd be pointing those out too, but I don't think he did anything particularly "well" when he came on other than fill space.

I've lost the plot by pointing that out though!
LOL Twenty minutes

Tubes has been bouncing off hay makers from the crowd left, right and centre here, he'd do well as a mod!

It's nice to have a few options in the middle of the park now instead of relying on Neville or Hitz isn't it?

Nothing else needs to be said really after that corker of a post.

Anyway, back on to James McCarthy - hope he starts ahead of Osman next game. Don't think Ossies second half was enough to rescue him tbh

...I thought Ossie had a very good second half. Regardless, he is a damn fine contributor to EFC.
