Ross Barkley is a very talented flair player, on his own at the moment helped by Barry - J M is just a workhorse imo no more, and no less seems to go missing and his passing is mostly crab like!

James McCarthy is a destroyer, his job is to get into peoples faces put challenges in and break up play. Barkley has flair but is a defensive liability Barry reads the game well and has no legs, james is the cog in between. Last time I looked you pick a side that has different components to become 1 competent unit, perhaps you would have 3 ross barkleys strung across midfield.

I think he is a good player. He needs to get his head up and look forward. He will take more responsibility for us and develop on into a top drawer midfield destroyer and captain.
 
He was good yesterday. The only disappointment for me was when he got forward, he wasn't incisive enough with his passing. There was one moment at the end where he was bursting through and had Rom ahead of him. All he needed to do was pass it in a straight line and slightly ahead of Rom and we were in on goal. But unfortunately he hesitated and then Williams recovered.

Spot on. You can't explain that to some though. They want every player to have flair, yet when they do and aren't as good at the defensive side of things like Barkley they then want a tough tackling hard worker.

Don't think that some realise certain players have different strengths and different roles in the team. And those saying they're waiting for him to add an attacking side to his game are deluded as well. He won't do it because that's not the player he is and doesn't have that to his game.

McCarthy was very good yesterday, but admittedly he needs to show more consistency this season.

I said he was overrated ages ago and isn't that good and most of our fans try to justify his price tag like lpool do with Henderson

Fully agree. Though he was excellent on Saturday. He and Barry were all over the MF, hassling and retrieving the ball to set up the next Everton attack.
 
Said it before that you see how important he is to the way we play when he is missing.

Coleman doesn't get forward half as much when James doesn't play

All the above statements are correct about him going forward. If he could improve and add more goals hed be one of the best in the league.
