Thought he did well today. He does a lot of work so barkley and kone and naismith Lennon can get forward. That goes unnoticed most of time. 1 or 2 crunching tackles and good passing including forward passing

Last season the Ireland team talked about him having bad blisters in his first international games. Wonder if that was just a one off or if it is something he suffers from early on until his feet toughen up.

I'm still surprised that people haven't realised that McCarthy contributes most for the team off the ball than on it. A perfect example was that chance Costa got after we messed up the short corner. Those who aren't paying attention will probably think it was Jagielka who prevented him scoring when it was actually McCarthy chasing back from the half way line who got over and made Costa cut back meaning Jagielka got his foot on it. Just one example of the hard work he puts in and why he's vital to our team. Although yesterday it was Barry who was the star man in the middle in my opinion.

I did a tour of Goodison a few seasons ago and we went to the dressing room and I asked why Coleman had only one pair of boots when all the others had three or four. the woman doing the tour said it is because his feet blister so much, once he finds a pair that are comfy he won't change them! maybe James has similar problems?
