Yes mate i thought he played great his first season, but i aslo thought Jelavic was world class his first 6 months here, both happened to be false impressions, also thought hheitenga was brilliant for one season as well when he won our POTY aeward, similarly he also prroved a bit meh in the end
Jelavic and Heitinga didn't suffer recurring hamstring injuries.

Most would have guessed it wasn't going to work well for him today in that position and it was confirmed, lets not go there again but at least it was changed in good time.

did anyone actually think he'd be good at right wing back?

he still has a place here, but he's a bit down the pecking order
Tbf think he played pretty well there last week.

But different type of game today with West Brom sat back, so formation that worked for the first half last week didn't suit McCarthy. But then it didn't really suit Deulofeu or Kev either.

nah think he knows full well what he can do, but he doesn't do it well enough for him, which is why they bought Gueye

I think it's pretty clear Gueye is better than him. Didn't we play McCarthy at wing back last week too? Can't see that happening again any time soon.

James is not a wing back nor a full back.

He is defensive midfielder whom we know can be very good.

And we know he has been kept back by injuries this past year.

Shipping him out now would be madness unless someone better is fetched in over the next two weeks or so.

He will get plenty of game time as a rotation option for Barry and Gana and when they are injured or suspended.

Get his head down, fight for his place, try to impress the manager.

Mate he's just not good enough and his game is far too one dimensional to be anything more than a squad player, he's basically been found out at this level as a workhorse - who doesnt seem to work that hard anymore

If theres the option to get someone in decently above his level then we should do so and get rid

which explains why he looks a shadow of the first seasons player mate, did those injuries stop him being able to pass a ball forwards or over ten yards as well though?

You need time to play any pass; struggle to get enough of it and it affects all your game.

Unless he gets shifted between now and the end of the month he;s in Koeman's plans. He's worked with him for preseason so he must see something you dont.

I disagree. He's not good enough. He had energy and sharpness but was never technically a good player. Now he's lost his energy and sharpness he offers nothing. Just a yellow card waiting to happen.

If that had happened to Mata you'd all be in-semi about him getting das boot from United.

Koeman had seen enough.
