Started last season slow as well, perhaps he is just one of those players that need a lot of minutes to get up to speed or wonder if he is having the same blister problems.

Not good today and not good enough for Everton. Cannot believe we have given him a new five year deal, beggars belief. Never get's his head up to look for a forward pass always backwards or sideways with his first touch. I remember, Bracewell, Reid, King, Dobson, Arteta, gravesen, Carsley etc etc in our centre midfield. I hate him playing!!!!

Very limited player who is very good at one job, grinding. When he has to do more than that his limitations become very clear.

i don't think he's fully fit tbh. he hadn't looked too bust in pre-season for me. seems a lot less energetic.

Ive said for ages he is a decent player thats it. I dont get all the love for him. Id of snapped Spurs hands off for 20 million. He needs to play holding midfield on his own.

Said he was a fantastic but when we signed him, but I think it's time he progressed a little bit more. Breaks up the play brilliantly but has so much more in his artillery bout time he started getting more goals. Maybe he is just doing what he is told by Martinez but he is the same in international games.

Was the same last preseason, at the time was said to be bad blisters.

Wonder how he played for Wigan in 13/14 before we brought him at the end of the window.
