I've a feeling somethings gone on behind the scenes, like a promise made to him didn't come through (contract/wage rise) or felt his injuries were badly handled.

I think he's just been told he wouldn't be a starter mate and he threw his toys out of the pram a bit.

That being said he has also been injured a lot.

But he's too safe.

I was one of his biggest defenders on here as I always thought if he just added 'more' to his game he'd be the perfect all-rounder.

Ultimately he has shown in the games he's played this season he can't do that, and I'd rather move him on if he doesn't want to be here.

I honestly think we need to back him now and wait till he's fully fit before we judge him

If he's crap then, fine, cull

If he never gets fit again, fine, cull

But neither of those scenario's have happened yet

Basically, stop being grumpy gravy granules is what I'm saying, and give The Mac Daddy a chance

Whens your cut off point for this? Because he hasn't been fully fit for 2 and a half seasons now.

I'd bin him off if we had a half decent offer.

Well, you shouldn't manipulate things to fit your agenda.

First season he looked a cracking player but for the majority of time here, he's been underwhelming. The epitome of the manager who brought him in.

As of now, after watching him for a few seasons I'm saying he's not good enough to play regularly for any team wanting to compete in the top half of the league. He's limited on the ball, and if that's the case - you need to be damn good off it. He's not.
He's always been limited on the ball. We all knew that. If his body can't do the closing down and challenging that made his first season and a half so good, then that's just what injury does.

He's wanted out even before Ron came here, when his mentor Bob was at the helm. That's why I'm saying somethings gone on.

Haha - 1st September 2013;

April 2016;

To be fair, wasn't convinced when we signed him - he made me look daft in that first season. Ever since, he's been shocking.

Are we doing James McCarthy vaulting???

James McCarthy is a decent little player, with some potential, 5 years ago we would have loved a player of his standing.
I personally feel we are past that kinda player, I suppose he would be a good squad player.
Moyes was never gonna leave tho, hes build something here. he just wants a little more folding to see it through.

Ignore the Moyes bit :oops::oops::oops:

James McCarthy is not the class of player we need.

I've been a J Mac apologist for quite a while, but it's time to get rid. I still maintain he's a useful squad player so I wouldn't just give him away, but it we can get a reasonable sum for him we need to do it.

I think we can point to Bournemouth away last year where it all really started to go downhill for him, and the squad really. He was playing very well at that point last year, then he got injured in the second half at Bournemouth and the team fell apart, and apparently, so did he.

RIP James

In normal circumstances, you tend to work your socks off and prove your doubter wrong.

But he didn't. Time to get rid.

Fair play for saying so mate

He was never as good as a lot rated him as during that first season (myself a smuch as anyone), problem we always have is thinking we can 'fix' someone, IF mccarthy can add 'more' to his game, If del can just add fitness and physicality to his game, IF rom can add a first touch and start using his size to bully defenders, If Ross can learn to be confident and get over the fact his leg wont break if he ever attempts a tackle.

Sometimes it's about just realising they are what they are and either their good enough with those missing elements to there game - or they can fit into the system with complimentary players around, or alternatively they just arent good enough, and sometimes what we see as a flaw in a player may be flaws in the players around them making us think that - i believe Ross (lack of intelligence and not being quick enough on the ball is that - think it's actually no movement and no options for him most of the time, but the label is on Ross and it will stick for a long time)

McCarthy and sadly Del - neither are good enough, Lukaku plainly is but needs the right system and players around him, and Ross is on the fence and could go either way (although i know that in the right setup he'd look a world beater)

Hasn't played in 2 years. 2 years where we have been utter rubbish in midfield. Barry has played those too years where we have been utter rubbish in midfield but we still blame Mccarthy. Laughable. Laughable I say.
