It is unusual that Jimmy Macs allegiance to ROI is always brought up...

I was born in Liverpool to scouse parents with my paternal Grandparents coming from the Ulster border following the troubles...my maternal great granddad came from Cork. Had I been a footballer, i would have wanted to play for ROI.

I wonder if this would be an issue if a player raised in USA to English parents etc wanted to play for England...

I wish James McCarthy a full recovery and as quick a recovery as possible given the injury.

A wholehearted player who never shirks a tackle and this attitude will help him come back as good as ever .
He will have Seamus Coleman to lead him through the various stages of recovery .

Looks horrible, but thankfully he'll have access to top medical and physio treatment. I just hope he has the mental strength to push him through and come back stronger.
