I'm sure the posters who class Mccarthy as Scottish also would class Sterling as Jamican actually.
Same as Froome, Wiggins, Farah, Pietersen etc etc.

I'm no fan of the player, never have been, but I certainly appreciate what he was doing for our club yesterday and I hope he makes a recovery.

I think he has played well for us, never scared of putting a tackle in and was just getting back to match fitness
Horrible injury and I hope he recovers well

Acually a fair few fans won't be to bothered as they have been saying get rid without out even giving him a chance to get his fitness back, Bolasie to it will be Colemans turn soon. I'm sure plenty won't comment on here between 9 and 3 on weekdays, unless they are bunking off, because some comments must surely come from kids, I can't believe they can be adults.
Go on then, I'll offer a reply to that - I am one of those fans who wanted McCarthy gone, and has done for two seasons at least. I certainly don't ever wish injuries on any player, our own OR those of any other club. I don't want to see anyone have to endure what McCarthy will now have to go through in order to salvage his career.

I also didn't want to see him playing for us in the first place yesterday. His time here is long past over. He's been utterly ineffective for all but one season of his Everton career, was an overpriced and risky purchase to start with and has provided very little return on what was a big fee at the time Wigan fleeced us for him. We now can't even sell him.

Having said all the above, I wish him a full recovery. Hopefully it will be a speedy one so we can FINALLY get rid of him.

He was great in his first season, the injury problems started the next season for him. Granted, he never really showed any significant progression with regards to what he can do on the ball. But ultimately if used correctly and in the right games he was a very effective player so I think he deserves more credit than what you’re suggesting.

That said, we have literally no central midfielders who are composed on the ball, who can pass it effectively or carry and drive with the ball so McCarthy defo wouldn’t resolve those issues if fit.

Which puts him head and shoulders above most others in this Everton team.

And this season when he got on the pitch he was about the only spark of energy we had on the pitch.

It's good that you bear no grudges against McCarthy though and that you wish him a speedy recovery so you can get shut of him. email him with that, I'm sure he'll treasure the sentiment and it'll help him through his ordeal.

Excellent this.

I’m his biggest critic going but he’s an Everton player and what happened to him was horrific.

My thoughts on him as a player are irrelevant.

Bad injury, just like our Seamus. If that is anything to go by do not see him being fit to play this side of Xmas, so his contract is to 6/2020, this really is a big waste. Going to be blunt, pay the med bills but buy out his contract that will give him a nice lump sum. He can then go play where he will get any offer and off our books.

Indeed.

Should the club send a representative to make him this very generous offer tomorrow morning or should we do the decent thing and wait until Thursday afternoon?
