Schneiderlin wouldn't have been bought by Manchester United if he was a McCarthy level player though, he quite clearly has ability.

No doubt he has.

But Manchester United buy plenty of players one would not automatically think of as any better than "McCarthy level" players.

Smalling, Jones, Ashley Young, Daley Blind to name but four of their current squad.

They buy plenty of workhorses and water carriers to augment the Pogbas, Zlatans and Martials.

Nothing Schneiderlin had shown since he arrived here has been remotely on the level of Jimmy Mac's performances in his first season with us.

To argue otherwise is to argue for argument's sake, Mike.

Now, that is not to say Schneiderlin will not improve at Everton and become a very important player for us and there is little doubt McCarthy is a light of former days for us.

But right now Morgan is no improvement on the player we know McCarthy can be and has been for us in the past, IMO.

For what it's worth, Blind may be a 'water carrier type', but he's no mug.

Otherwise sort of agree - Schneiderlin did have a month or so where he was as good, if not better at certain things, than McCarthy in the first season. From then on he's been decent, but we've not done him any favours because of the way we set up.

Ninja edit: Schneiderlin is 5 times the player going forward compared to McCarthy though, which, imo, makes him the better player overall.

Mccarthy is nowhere close to the level of Schneiderlein. Mccarthy is a bang average headless chicken. Schneiderlein is struggling for form at a time no one in the team is playing well. And that's not even to mention Mccarthys diabolical fitness record. SELL.

Schneiderlin improved us massively in the second half of last season K. He was actually a joy to watch. McCarthy has only ever complimented good players around him with his energy and work rate, he's never done anything actually impressive with the ball at his feet himself.

Btw Blind isn't a workhorse, he's a brilliant player.

He's got a few decent goals, but his first for us actually made me laugh.
