In the 1960s, we'd sign players like Alan Ball, Howard Kendall and Alex Young.

In the 1970s, we got Latchford, Dobson, King etc.

In the 1980s, Lineker, Heath, Watson.

In the 1990s, we bought Ferguson, Kanchelskis, Speed.

In the 2000s, we signed Yakubu, Fellaini, Andy Johnson.

Now we're signing an unknown Argentinian on loan and McFadden, who wasn't good enough for Birmingham, who were relegated last season.

*sighs*

:(

The club will pitch it that we beat off competition from Wolves and Celtic to sign a player for free that we sold for £5m. He's still only 27 and coming into his prime. He knows the club and how we play and Moyes knows him. He's versatile and can play in a number of forward positions. And he'll hopefully give us that little bit of guile and creativity in the final third that we've been lacking.

Actually, when you put it like that, it doesn't sound too bad!

Heard me arl fella (48) saying to my ma before that for the first time since the late 90s he's depressed with Everton and couldn't stop going on about how sh1te we have become. Hearing things like that make you realise what a sinking ship we are.

We'll patch him up, get him looking half decent, then flog him for a million to Partick next summer.

We've become the Arthur Daley of the Premiership.

Whoah, whoah I can remember us signing some absolute tosh in the nineties. You missed out Mitch Ward, Paul Holmes, Kenny Sansom, David Burrows, John Oster, Danny Williamson and a whole, whole host of others there.

In the 00s: Idan Tal, Scott Gemmil, Joe Max Moore, Alex Nyarko, Nicklas Alexandersson and the king of the bad buys Rodrigo. Throw in Koldrup and there you go.

You can't judge signings over a ten year period based on a few good/bad ones...

You know what, billy?

You are correct.....put that way it begins to look like a worthy punt.

Perspective, I was actually disappointed when we sold him those years ago, as was Moyes that McFadden decided he wanted to leave, I really think he was coming on but he wanted guaranteed first team football but didn't have that here because of the form at the time of Yakubu, Johnson and Cahill and also Pienaar and Arteta on the flanks, moving to Birmingham actually held him back a bit because of their struggles and McCleish anti-football, however, he got through that and the end of the season before last and the the start of last season before he got a terrible injury, i remember watching him a couple of times and thinking how good he was playing and that i'd have him back in a heartbeat, Birmingham did offer him a contract but he turned it down because he didn't want to drop down a division, Wolves, Celtic and Villa were all desperate to sign him due to the nature of his situation(free). he was very inconsistent and often frustrating for us, granted, but on his day, what a talented footballer he is, that goal against Charlton is one of the best goals i have ever seen at Goodison,as was his goal against Leeds and the goal he scored against France, the double against Metalist, all brilliant. What holds the lad back is his consistency, but Everton could really do with getting him fit and having him as a game-changer from the bench or otherwise. He'll never be the most important player at Everton(mainly due to his consistency and greed with the ball) but after much thinking, i'm glad to have him back, he is an extremely talented footballer and yes i'd have him on instead of Gueye or Billy in a game we are chasing as he has big game prem experience. As much as Neville coming on for Cahill is insane, Moyes does know his stuff when dealing with incoming players( Kroldrup is boring now and he has since proven to be a quality defender in Italy), so all things considered, welcome back Faddy!

at the time that he left, he wasnt good enough to play for the club...but now he is? shows which way the club is moving at the minute and its depressing, its almost as if Moyes is admitting that fact

At the end of the day he's here now, so all we can do is hope he pops up with a few goals, but if he gets picked ahead of Vellios, Drenthe, Gueye or Barkley then it will be an absolute joke. Theyre not getting enough game time as it is!

Also, why do MoyesWright always moan about us having a lack of wages to spend and then go and waste them on the signings of two unnecessary players like Hahnemann and McFadden!?
