at the time that he left, he wasnt good enough to play for the club...but now he is? shows which way the club is moving at the minute and its depressing, its almost as if Moyes is admitting that fact

At the end of the day he's here now, so all we can do is hope he pops up with a few goals, but if he gets picked ahead of Vellios, Drenthe, Gueye or Barkley then it will be an absolute joke. Theyre not getting enough game time as it is!

Also, why do MoyesWright always moan about us having a lack of wages to spend and then go and waste them on the signings of two unnecessary players like Hahnemann and McFadden!?

THIS THIS THIS

Perspective, I was actually disappointed when we sold him those years ago, as was Moyes that McFadden decided he wanted to leave, I really think he was coming on but he wanted guaranteed first team football but didn't have that here because of the form at the time of Yakubu, Johnson and Cahill and also Pienaar and Arteta on the flanks, moving to Birmingham actually held him back a bit because of their struggles and McCleish anti-football, however, he got through that and the end of the season before last and the the start of last season before he got a terrible injury, i remember watching him a couple of times and thinking how good he was playing and that i'd have him back in a heartbeat, Birmingham did offer him a contract but he turned it down because he didn't want to drop down a division, Wolves, Celtic and Villa were all desperate to sign him due to the nature of his situation(free). he was very inconsistent and often frustrating for us, granted, but on his day, what a talented footballer he is, that goal against Charlton is one of the best goals i have ever seen at Goodison,as was his goal against Leeds and the goal he scored against France, the double against Metalist, all brilliant. What holds the lad back is his consistency, but Everton could really do with getting him fit and having him as a game-changer from the bench or otherwise. He'll never be the most important player at Everton(mainly due to his consistency and greed with the ball) but after much thinking, i'm glad to have him back, he is an extremely talented footballer and yes i'd have him on instead of Gueye or Billy in a game we are chasing as he has big game prem experience. As much as Neville coming on for Cahill is insane, Moyes does know his stuff when dealing with incoming players( Kroldrup is boring now and he has since proven to be a quality defender in Italy), so all things considered, welcome back Faddy!

If he is inconsistent and we play him from the bench it will take a crystal ball to time it right for his good bits.

I am quite prepared to allow him to ram my words down my throat by proving me wrong like but I just cant see it.

i'm hoping he's matured a bit since his last spell and become a bit less sporadic.

In the 1960s, we'd sign players like Alan Ball, Howard Kendall and Alex Young.

In the 1970s, we got Latchford, Dobson, King etc.

In the 1980s, Lineker, Heath, Watson.

In the 1990s, we bought Ferguson, Kanchelskis, Speed.

In the 2000s, we signed Yakubu, Fellaini, Andy Johnson.

Now we're signing an unknown Argentinian on loan and McFadden, who wasn't good enough for Birmingham, who were relegated last season.

*sighs*

:(

In the 60s we signed Tommy Jackson, Sandy Brown, Dai Davies

In the 70s we signed Joe Harper, Garry Stanley, Mickey Walsh (the Blackpool fella),

In the 80s we signed Alan Biley, Kevin Langley, Alan Irvine

In the 90s we signed Ray Atteveld, Brett Angell, Claus Thompson

In the 00s we signed Gazza, Pistone, Lars Jacobsen.

touche

I disagree.

Hibbo was crap all right, but that was due to him collecting a booking early doors and he was afraid to tackle afterwards.

Lars was skinned alive by Malouda every time he had the ball.

Dont forget that astute judge Sven Goran turned the argentinian down..

Just wanted to add my two cents, I'm also a huge NJ Devils hockey fan...and we tend to do the same thing. We bring in players that are supposedly past their prime and dumped off by other teams.

But because those players know the system and want to come back to the Devs, they usually end up doing well. So many times I've said when we resign someone that there are better players out there, he's ****, etc. but I'm almost always proven wrong. We don't spend big money and play in a crap market but we've been one of the top 5 teams in the league for the past 16 years or so.

Not saying that the two situations are perfectly analogous and that McFadden is a great signing, and I know that this is due to desperation and not some strategy, but I certainly don't think that this is a **** pickup.

I can't believe I read all 254 posts before this one.

Everton supporters never fail to disappoint me. Judgement ALWAYS passed before the player gets on the pitch for us or has played very little (see: Yakubu, Fellaini, etc...).

Am I excited about McFadden coming back? Not really. Do I want him to start ahead of Barkley, Drenthe, or Billy? No, not really.

I'm kinda meh about the whole thing. But I won't say jack about this until I see how he turns out for us. You'd think that after Moyes' ten years with us, the supporters might, and I mean just might give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to signings like this.
