Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

Whilst I feel like we have missed a trick with not handing him the number 10 shirt, at the very least number 19 does appear to have significance to him. It was the number he wore at Envigado as a teenager.

Also, as someone on Twitter pointed out, 1+9 = 10.

in Ancelotti's book he talks about bringing Zlatan to PSG. Yes he was an elite player and he wanted to sign the best but he was also his player and he helped change the club into a mega club, change the mindset of the players into winners and i think that's what Rodriguez and Allan have been brough in to do (as well as improve our team immensely). They know what Carlo demands and if you can't raise you're standards to match theirs you'l be found out pretty quickly and look foolish.
I said yesterday had we made a signing like this when Rom was here he wouldn't have left. The last couple of windows we've worried about Richie leaving but we're now seeing the club match the ambition of our top players. Bringing in a world class manger and backing him with world class players. I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic but it's bloody exciting.

Really mate, never heard that one before, puts a whole different spin on things for me.

There might be a little embellishment, but essentially they had a call and Koeman was essentially of the view he couldn't get anymore out of them. It sort of explains why he went a bit out of the blue later on into that Monday, and the club were a little on the hop when he did.

....he’ll be fine when he gets a bit of confidence.

I always have to caution my optimist, as I'm in general quite an optimist (which is dangerous for an Evertonian!) and I keep comparing it to Rooney. Some key difference to me are though, that he has not played as many games recently so has "less miles on the clock" and has probabaly gone a bit less "life and death" than Rooney did in quite a few of them Wayne was later into his career. He's also a coiple of years younger that helps. You'd also say, he has a manager who was desperate to sign him and knows him well. I always got the sense with Rooney it was a bit of an afterthought for Koeman.

For players like Gordon he will be a brilliant role model.

I think we may move back towards a 4-3-3 type formation and get him in the middle with options all around him.
