Apart from Godfrey I fully agree but people (I'm sure someone earlier today said he's bigger than the club) are going on like he's our Maradona to Napoli. He doesn't even want to be here. i hope he stays because he's a good player but I won't be that bothered if he goes. I'm not having any player thinking they're bigger/better than the club.

Aye, it's not the simple situation perhaps we try to make it nor do we know what's going on behind the scenes, but understandably people are annoyed.

Nobody is bigger than the club and we need to ensure that one or a small number of people upset the apple cart, yet equally we should try to retain talent.

I think, with all things balanced, we'll be worse off without him at least in the short term. I'll also be quite annoyed if I never get to see him play with my own eyes.

As much as I love James and wished he would stay, the vibes I get from him are very non committal. He could solve the whole issue by going to Benitez behind closed doors and telling him he wants to stay and will do what it takes. He could tell the fans on his twitch feed that he loves it here, can't wait to play in front of the fans and would love to stay and sign his extension. He has had plenty of opportunities to get his side of things out there, but so far, it has all been a bit wishy washy, which does a terrible job of hiding his true feelings. He seems like a smart guy, I'm sure he realises that the general feeling towards Benitez is not a positive 1. Anything he says that was pro Everton and/or Anti Benitez would get huge backing.

Those things aren't happening because he doesn't truly want to be here. Which is a shame, but totally understandable.

We would all love the fairytale to be true, but deep down, I think we all know that's all it is.

And if he walks in 12 months for nothing, we get zero advantage.

Really sad times, I thought I'd hit rock bottom with bisto tits and piss goblin, but this is worse.

Thing is, you don't need to think rationally in relation to James, you only need your eyes to watch him play football. He was one of the few bright spots last season, sadly wasn't able to stay fit, but when he played, we played better and things happened in an attacking sense, that we just aren't capable of with that other crabs in the squad - the Richy goal at the pit for example.

If he's fit and available, he plays, 100 times out of 100.

There is no need for debate, and the backing of Benitez is shameful from some blues on this.

It's all becoming a bit unsavoury, if players don't want to be here is completely fine with me they won't play.

He clearly thinks he's above us, which he probably is, but it's becoming abit boring now, he's good but not good enough for me to sit though the constant speculation and snippets of disrespect to the club that creep out. We know he only come to nosh Carlo off no need to keep repeating it.

Have you just woken up from a coma? We played the worst football I've ever seen Everton play last year, and I've seen most Everton games since the early 1990's. It can not get worse

I keep seeing comments like this as well and wonder where these fans have been since Martinez's 1st season.

Outside of a handful of good performances the all round performances these past 5 or so years under numerous managers has largely been tosh.

Last season was just as bad as Alladyce's stint here (probably worse with the empty stadiums).

Baines and Pienaar was a spectacle, its been so long since I seen 2 players look like they train together, we have been a pathetic excuse of a football team for so so long now, I just want to feel, make me feel.

Are we saying that of the five players that are training on their own due to COVID only four of them, maybe three depending on the how you view the Kean situation are legit? I’m no Benitez fan, but I just feel James really doesn’t want to be here and his attitude is a little on the stinky side. I want him to stay, but from what he has said I’m not convinced.

James is as much having to self isolate as he was injured in the last few games of last season. He won't play for us again, and I don't think it will be a huge loss
