If he carries on playing like this, they'll start fawning over him at some point. He is making a lot of them eat their words and they don't like it.

I find it depends which media we focus on. Fortunately I've encountered 90% genuinely positive words about James by the pundits. Everton players are often not given enough credit for actually being better than players at the top 6. Before the Liverpool encounter the pundits I was listening too asked the question, which Everton player would make the Liverpool side... the only name they put forward was James. It might sound harsh on the others but it does reflect the respect James has as a truly world class player...

I don't know about this week, but James was also included in every one of the BBC teams of the week for the first 4.. Don't always believe the Everton fans that the press hate us - there are definitely a few kopites amongst the pundits that do and I find we tend to focus on them as opposed to the balanced view of the general media. They do tend to build up the traditional winning teams more, but hard to blame them. There are enough pundits out there that rate our chances to break the top 6 or even 4 this year (because of James and Allan and the rise of DCL). Owen Hargreaves has many times said we the "real deal" this season.. My take is ignore the negative press, it doesn't matter (James certainly won't be affected as he can see how loved he is even without fans in the stadium) and it's our results at the end of the day that will set us free.
