2020/21 James Rodriguez

Annoys me seeing fans make excuses for them - they are 2 of my favourite players but both have absolutely let us down massively.

When does Aubameyang get sent off for Arsenal? Or Kane for Spurs? Vardy for Leicester, Jimenez for Wolves etc

Teams talismans do it on the pitch not kick out in petulance leaving us threadbare for 3 games.

Richarlison has had 2 straight red cards in 3 seasons at the club - which for a forward player is poor. I know the one against Bournemouth was soft but stop getting yourself into those situations.

Richarlison didn’t kick out in petulance. He was going for the ball.

Aubameyang got sent off last season and Vardy has had three red cards in six seasons. Richarlison has had a single red card more than the former and you’re acting like he’s some psychotic brute...

James Rodríguez curls one in from a corner - aged 13!
Archive footage of a teenage James Rodríguez scoring from a corner kick in 2004. He has scored goals os all shapes and sizes - but never tap-ins...

Scored two tap ins for us in one match.

I really like them both too, but it's really poor. James Rodriguez is staying out there with a hamstring injury and those 2 got themselves hooked and suspended needlessly.

It's thoughtless play today.

Richarlison was lunging in at 90 minutes in a Merseyside derby which nearly and should have cost us the game - absolute lunacy.

Digne takes a kick out at their player today then runs in and puts his hands up before riding his achilles like a skateboard instead of just pulling him back and taking a yellow - absolute lunacy.

The points lost down to them not being on the pitch over the coming games could be the difference between finishing 4th or 5th or 8th - then Richarlison will be the first piping up about wanting to join a club that plays in the CL when he could have helped us achieve it.

I havent a problem with someone being the last man taking someone down and preventing them from scoring a likely winner and taking 1 game ban if it wins us the 3 points on the day - but stupid needless red cards leaving us without our best players for 3 matches I find reckless and unnecessary.

Why did Gilfy take the corner kicks instead of James? If you have James serving DCL, Yerry and Keane, this is as strong as it gets for aerial offensive. Was it because James was injured, or was it because Carlo wanted to give Gilfy the opportunity? It is hard to find a better player in the planet than James to take corners. Why wasnt he used for what is arguably his strongest feature?

I wondered exactly the same thing. He has been taking almost all of our corners up until this match. He touched his leg several times towards the end of the game too. So it seems that he wasn't 100% fit. I hope he recovers this upcoming week and have a better game next Saturday. Everton has done great up until now and this will hopefully be a learning moment for the team. In the Blues I still trust :)

Was off it today. They got round him and Bertrand did a job on him.

Godfrey offered nothing going forward - as expected - so it limited the runs which create space for James.

He was bound to have a poor game, just have to hope it was nothing more than cramp at the end.

In hindsight, today was one of those games where it might have been better to have him in the middle.

Then again, that would require us to have a right winger, and we don't have one of those.

Massively hampered by the lack of a proper right back behind him. Didn't look fully fit either. Still pulled off some lovely cross field passes, but given our impotence in an attacking sense, no surprise nothing came of it.

Huge mistake letting Walcott + Kean go with no one coming in. Can't remember the last time we played a game with only 1 striker in the entire squad.

i see that completely the other way round. Godfrey was hammered all day because he got no support. James is a luxury, one we need but not at the expense of our entire right side

Wouldn’t bother tbh

Siggy took them because he is right footed. It was a mistake though. There was literally no danger in any of his corners

Happy to hear it after one poor result lol
I've followed Everton for over half a century and yes, in the Blues I also still trust ;)
I would still trust even after more than one poor result, but I do rather to see us winning.

Well l, it seems you are one of those fans that Everton is fortunate to have and may your trust be paid off soon. In your opinion, what would be a satisfying result for Everton this season?

1. I know, I was just joking ;)
2.
You can apply if's, what's and but's to every single team, for every single game.
The undeniable fact is we are top because we have taken 13 points from 6 games and have a better goal difference than Liverpool. No other team has managed to do it, ergo at the moment we are top on merit.
Will we continue picking up points at that rate? Highly unlikely. It's also unlikely however that many other teams will.
Before the season started, would you have taken 13 points from the first half dozen games? Damn right you would.
After the first 15 minutes of the Blackpool pre-season friendly most would have gladly taken 6 points from those 6 games.
Qualifying for Europe must still be the aim. Anything above that is a bonus, but we have shown that we are well capable of earning that bonus. We know from experience that we are also capable of falling away badly.
Just buckle up and enjoy the ride. Que sera sera.
;)
