I wasn't criticising his contribution, just responding to the notion that our physio's are in some way to blame for his fitness issues. Do I remain disappointed that a 'world class' player asks to be substituted for that reason - yes -as I would be any of our squad, not just James. e.g. Holgate barely had a pre-season and it was his first match, but he didn't ask to down tools early.

I appreciate players are human beings and would view it differently if it was agreed that he was not fully match fit but was going to give it his all for as long as possible, but that is not what Carlo alluded to in his presser, nor what his performance suggested in terms of work rate.

Maybe I am just a bit old skool :dodgy:
 
I haven't read any of the last few days
luckily the birth of my baby boy coincided with Derby day, and I was blissfully not caring about VVD crap, and our lovely 2017-19 Everton team taking centre stage.
However, I really hope that as fans we change.
We can of course criticise our own players, but publicly, emotionally, nationally (on radio, twitter etc) and in social media spaces which are open, we have to defend like crazy our players.
Rodriguez, Ancelotti, Allan, Doucoure, DCL, Holgate, Keane, Coleman, Digne, Mina, - the new young players who are just making it - Nkounkou, Brandthwaite, Godfrey...
the list of player who TRY REALLY HARD, or are just making their way but have a great attitude, should be absolutely 100% feeling our support. They are almost untouchable, until they really prove that they are not giving their best.
It has been about 2 months of a ridiculously weird season. Our home matches would have turned to draws or wins, of course they would, but our Away matches might have been just as bad.
I was hoping that in the VVD saga, everton did more to defend or handle it, but hte F'ing LFC campaign against Pickford was RIDICULOUS, especially when we know that VVd and Robertson were targeting DCL and Rodriguez

We have to have more love and fun and enjoymnet and not be so toxic and negative and down all the time. We have the BEST MANAGER WE HAVE EVER HAD (from outside I mean - not counting results) and he has attracted JAMES to our club!!!! Not Ginola, Gazza, Eto'o...not anyone past their prime. JAMES JAMES JAMES

Good things are happening, We have to change and help the club change
Defend our players, be positive, encourage them. Support the young ones. Assume everyone is a superstar. It's not our job to take training and team selection. I think King Carlo knows what he's doing. If he keeps picking Siggy there must be a reason. We have only got a credible 14 players who can play at a high level and they're not even a team yet. Just wait until this team is full of friendships, partnerships, teamwork, consistency, AND our bench is not crap. We will be flying!!
Until then Rodriguez is untouchable!
 

I’m still miffed people are calling him out after two average games where he’s looked unfit.
And to those who said he’s never looked fit I remember in our first matches him putting in tackles (often fouls) in our final third so the difference was there to see in the last two games where he was rarely back. Remember him beating three palace players just on the edge of our box and then playing a pass inside after making them all look stupid too and plenty of other nice link ups in our own third.
He’s different class and I hope he comes back fully fit against Fulham and you all feel like massive bells for doubting him.

Hasn't even looked average to me. Even at the weekend he was by far the most talented player on the pitch. Without Richarlison on the left his clever switches just don't work.
 

A lot seem to forget how hard the Prem is to play in .Lots of players come in and then they are sussed out and have to rethink a little .Any person calling James now is just a fool ,we all have standards to be met but it is just foolish to hope that summer signings will all hit the ground running .
 
I thought we had peaked with the rubbish spouting with the absolute guff Allan and doucoure have been getting since Saturday on their threads, but some of the absolute wham spouted against this fella beggars belief!

I'm genuinely disappointed that Hamezs thread has been tainted with such bollox - he deserves so much better, as do Allan and doucs.

As others have said, this is why evertonians don't deserve have nice things.
