In the VAR era its not a goal though. Its definitely offside by the letter of the law unfortunately. You win some you lose some with this var nonsense.

Its a scandalous system but sadly here to stay.

They need to treak the offside like they have done with the handball rule and made it more common sense.

Graspin at straws here , having played in most leagues around this city ,Rain soaked saturday afternoon on King George the 5th thats a goal ....it was a goal to me.

Just a reminder that the linesman flagged it off on the field. VAR merely confirmed it.

Lovely player but unfortunately we havent got the work rate or energy levels to carry him defensively and its causing massive issues

Based on yesterday's game TT I thought he was absolutely fine. I can only remember Leeds getting down the left side once when Godfrey and Keane decided to leave the ball for one another.

Apart from that, Roridguez covered his defensive space well.

The issue yesterday was Iwobi and Richarlison doing an unprofessional job, lack of concentration, lack of focus, lack of energy to get out to their man and close the space and then shocking in possession and in turn finding players then out of position.

It's just become a stereotype to say his defensive contributions are a problem because that was definitely not the case yesterday

If he's not contributing offensively then for me fair enough we start to look at other parts of his game.

But game after game he creates chances, either looks like scoring or creating.

Look at the goal he scored which was offside. Let's be honest the ball by Richarlison was a floating pile of crap yet he chests it down, cuts in and slots. 6 inches was the difference between offside and scoring the kind of goal we'd be taking about until Christmas.

I thought Davies patrolled that side with Rodriguez really well and James definitely helped out as much as he could.

All of our issues yesterday were caused by 2 players on the left not doing their job properly and 3 centre backs who thought they were playing in a pre season game and not switched on anywhere near enough for a Premier league match.

I was about to post the same. The narrative is always that James doesn't defend but I thought he did okay, he won 4 out of 7 duels, had 1 tackle, 1 interception and was the highest scored player by SofaScore. One can't ask everything of him.

And not being sharp/fit enough to keep up any pressure

James is our best player. He plays if he's fit. He's our only creator now Digne is out of the side.

I'm not going to trust Sofascore Sassy fkr the simple reason that has Richarlison as Evertons 2nd best player lol

I think the only game where we've been absolutely hammered down that side of the pitch was Man Utd at home and to Southampton away when he wasn't fit and Godfrey was not comfortable.

Its too easy to say "he doesn't do A & B properly" but that takes away the C, D, E, & F that he does far better than anyone else game after game.

The only gripe I have with him is that he's too unselfish and that's not a bad trait as it shows he's trying to be a team player. He's miles better than everyone else so I'd rather he take the shot when the chance arises.

It's less about tackles, and more about the fact that he doesn't track back so the right back often ends up covering 2 players. It's not necessarily a problem, but we haven't found a way to avoid getting exposed down the right hand side.

Yes.

Carlo and the staff need to talk to him. He had built a beautiful dynamic with Digne so he always looked for that. But Digne is not there. He needs to.start shooting. He used to be more aggressive with his shooting before. Don't know what's happened.

Fitness is going to be an issue for all sides. Leeds under Bielsa have always come out of the traps early season so no surprises for me with that kind of tempo.

Even the rs who are the fittest of the lot have looked like Barrow FC for loads of games and would have a fair few more defeats in their L column if people put away their chances.

Its on Ancelotti for sure who got it badly wrong with Iwobi and he needs to sort out the 3 cb's. Apart from that, we got into some great positions, had some great opportunities ourselves and lost becaise of a cracking finish/lazy closing down by Godfrey.
