Out of 35 games this season he has played 21 which is 60%. I'm happy with this. Ideally it would have been more but he has been available more than he has not. If he plays 9 of the remaining 10 he will have played 66%. We got him for free this is value for money when you consider it is only wages we are paying and they are probably off set by all the Colombian interest. What we need is an able deputy so we can pick and choose his games and the quality drop off won't be as much.

Why would we do that and not, just, y'know, buy some more good players so that all the burden isn't on him, but when he is fit, he has better players to play with?
Because teams need consistency and we can’t be relying on James, who’ll be on a big wage, being in for one week and then out for the rest of the month.

The problem will only worsen with age too.

Well the point is not to be so reliant on him by having better players that can step up if he's out...

And this is Everton we’re talking about. Efficient planning doesn’t come into play. We’ve needed a new rightback for about 4 years.

James is incredibly injury prone and is only getting older whilst here.

It would be ridiculous having him as a pivotal player and equally ridiculous to pay a big wage to someone who is so unreliable.

We need to sign other attackers so we aren't so reliant on him. He's not a player you can build a team around because of his injuries but he's not someone you let go either. There is a happy medium required here and we need more options.

He needs to be managed better going forward. His form seemed to fall away after that Southampton game where no one expected him to play and he was hobbling around the pitch by the end.

I'm afraid that will happen to any footballer we bring to the club....

I actually don't think the problem will get worse with age.

Again

You have an already injury prone player seat on the bench for 2 years, 1 of those years being an extended covid season, then come back with a short preseason due to covid, to a physical league, I'm actually glad that he has been good and somewhat available.

Hopefully copa America gets canceled and he can focus the summer in his fitness and conditioning. He will be better next season. He will always be James, but this season was always going to he the toughest in my opinion

But it's easier to get better players in when the likes of James Rodriguez play for your club...

He's not the issue here. There is an issue that we're reliant on him to be our main creator but that doesn't mean you get rid of him. You just go and get better players to compliment him and make up for it when he isn't in the side.

We need to get someone who gets younger each season.

Stop talking sense fella - no place for that here!

Cmon then @GwladysBlue - who should we sign of equal ability, skill and standing in the world game to James, who's also obviously fitter than him, after we boot James out the club?
