2020/21 James Rodriguez

As the situation is now, then of course he is not the problem. The problem is that Everton have become dependent on a player who plays only half of the matches. Ini f addition, AD has been given a special task in covering the rooms that JR is unable to cover himself. The problem is the strategy of recruiting players like JR and Allan, precisely because of the factors I mentioned earlier.
i feel sad for you... you are so defeatist!

He's that world class he should beat Palace on his own. The world class players I know would tear Palace
to pieces.
He’s a playmaker. He sees and delivers passes. If he was a giggs type or a Ronaldo type yes you’re right but he’s world class at what he does.
Unfortunately it’s a bit pointless if he has no one to pass to, don’t make the runs or they don’t stick away their chances etc.
I don’t normally so directly disagree with people on here but on this occasion you are wrong mate.

He sent half the palace team out for hotdogs so often, utter class.

Sometimes takes a while to get going...just like Messi does....takes times to scan the pitch, find the space left by certaiin players etc.

I think he works harder off the ball than ppl say....its one of them lazy throw away things say about players theyt dont watch...but once heard a pundit say it.

He moves more the Gylfi.
For Christs sake don't mention him on the same page as Messi. While we're at it: If our team yesterday
contained Messi instead of Rodriguez, what final score do you think?

Depending on James and recruiting James are different things no?

We got him on a free transfer. We are lucky to have him because he has helped decide matches and get points for us.

Now I agree that you can't depend on a player that is as injury prone as James but that's a different discussion. Even if we had a more complete squad, which we should have, having a player like James is a benefit, not a detriment.

Whether it is starting or coming off the bench, that level of talent makes a difference
Do you think JR would have been happy to sit on the bench at Everton? One thing is to do it in B Munich and Real Madrid where he was not found good enough, and where they do not allow any passengers on the team. But Everton? He came here because this was the best option, and because Ancelotti promised him a significant role on the team.

He has fantastic skills, something I have repeated countless times, but if we want to build a top team, we must steer clear of these player profiles. At the top level there are marginal differences, and if you have to use one player to cover up for another teammate's weaknesses, you have no chance. You might have done it ten years ago, but that time is over. Just look at Ronaldo at Juventus. He scores his goals, but the team gradually gets worse, and when they face real opposition in the CL, they are knocked out. The modern playmaker is KDB, and he runs his socks off in every match.

I'm just saying what every leader in a top club says. It's sad, but football is a cynical industry. I care about Everton, not individual players, and for me it is important that we buy players who make the club competitive with the best.

Amazing man.

Guy comes back and plays well and somehow he is the problem

Wow

Classic case of - people are upset and then just throw darts on a dartboard and blame whoever.

The guy won MOTM in the match thread...

But yeah he needs to do more - if he doesn't score 3 a game because he's so "highly rated" it means he failed. /s

How have you read my post, and thought I compared him to Messi ??

I said he seems to do the similar thing of scanning the space and picture of the opposition in the first part of the match......like Messi is known for.

Jeeez.

He nearly did. No other player on the pitch would've scored the goal he did. That is what quality is.

Haven't all of his goals been key goals (as in they've directly won us points, not scoring the 3rd or 4th goal in a comfortable win)?

convince your self not us....
What a strange way to argue. I have set out my views, which I would say are quite balanced. You can either just ignore them, or you can argue properly. You do not have to involve Iceland in this. I am open to making mistakes, but that is my analysis based on data and experience.
