Clearly our best player, but I really don't think he wants to be here. Seems like he's on a 'play when you feel like it' agreement with the club. Him and a few others are just here to keep fit for the Euro's, and it shows.

Apart from him not being eligible to play in the Euros, I get your point.

What I hope is that when crowds are back we may see some more from him, all he needs is to see the old lady rocking and he will be a blue for life. He is defo our best player and if we can just get some more sparkle then we are onto a winner.

What are you basing this on? Why would he have wanted to play in the pissing rain against Sheffield United last night if not for the club?
And if he only wanted to keep fit for Colombia (not at the euros mind), he wouldn’t play in the premier league where tackles are flying in and fixture congestion is a nightmare, he could’ve gone to somewhere like Holland where it’s nice and slow and technical and he’d still have got to play champions league if he went to Ajax.
He’s here because he likes working with Carlo and has been told we’re going to buy better players over his time here and is being paid handsomely to do so.
He’s also played 25 times this season so it’s not like he’s missed as much as people are making out...

I think he works better with Davies because Davies goes into those deep areas and gets the ball. Allan and Doucoure don't for some reason.

When we see James picking it up between our centre halves then we are going to lose. It was the same with Rooney. If you want these players in your team then they cannot play too deep or you may as well take them off.

Great post and so true.

Even when he has a bad game he pulls off a few world class moments. I’ve never seen him put in anything less than a 6/10 performance. Compare that to the players who would take his place (no names) who have put in several 4/10 performances between them, he’s easily worth his salary.

He is clearly a genius level player in terms of creativity and creativity in itself is not a luxury but what people who use that term mean is that he has weaknesses that affect us negatively in other ways.

The Premier league is full of teams who are highly reactive and flexible tactically. Bar a couple who just play their own the others will all create their gameplan week to week, targeting opponents weaknesses.

If we are sticking with James (or him with us) we a) need a midfielder and full back behind who can cover ALL the ground he can't and b) we also need a creative player who can step in, most likely offering something different, when James can't play.
