Surely, given the fact he wasn't playing and that he hadn't seen his young daughter in a year due to Covid kind of negates the fact he didn't stay. Watch the video where they greet each other and tell me then that he should've been at the Etihad watching Everton collapse instead of making a little girl happy sooner
I would have bailed long before in that position if I could have

It's a team game though. Whys he get preferential treatment if he's not off? I'm not one of the ones who arsed about it all but just looking at the bigger picture. Seems like he's off to me

It's not preferential treatment though unless someone else in the same situation(not playing, not seen their daughter in a year) gets told they can't but he can. I think one of the reasons players love Carlo(from what I've read) is that he treats players like people and cares about their external issues, all round man management and this seems like a good example. You think this points to James being off in the summer? I think it is the opposite myself, but I may be wrong. I still think it what the right decision to let him go though regardless, and can't see what harm it did to anyone playing on the day, as they would surely understand. It doesn't explain the absence at the Wolves game though which I thought was bad form but maybe he regards taking laps of honour for fans he's never played in front of as being bad form and would rather be there if he were playing. We can't know for sure.

The guy has done social media for the fans on the Everton mains, posts a ton of Everton positive social media, has given us moments of individual magic that hasn't been seen in a long time in blue, and yet people are mad that he left to go home one match early?

Lest you all forget the dude had to WEAR THESE BIONIC LEGS because he's had calf injuries galore

But by all means, be mad about missing a match or two.

What else did we expect? It was always too good to be true. Just get rid.
We expected between 20-30 games from him where he’d offer little defensively but provide some magic on the ball... exactly what we got! I’ll be delighted for two more years if we can add some quality around him and get players to fill in when he’s not around.

I reckon due to his glass calves he is quitting footy and taking up modeling .

He could give any one of these supermodels a run for their money , and remember , you heard it here first :p

Not being funny.. but does he not potentially cause disruption when he's unavailable?

How can we maintain a level of consistency in selection & tactics if we never know whether he's going to be 'fit' from week to week?

By having another player of similar style if not quality who is available to take up the slack and target games which require the magic that James has?

I would rather James stays, but fear he is a gonna for us. I would love to see him here next (few) year(s) fully fit and healthy and putting in a final highlight of his excellent career.

I think that. Doesn't seem fully committed from the outside and again maybe a little bit of special treatment. If those are true how would it affect the team morale if one of your colleagues, albeit world class, is taking the p1ss?
