Gutted for the lad - hopefully though that means he can use the summer to get fit and ready for next season - realistically we need a quality rotation for him though, as he won’t be able to play more than 20-25 games a season

He's never going be be truly "fit" again.

His calf is ruined. He'll probably just get up to the level he was at to start last season, which is good, but if we play him in 4 or 5 consecutive games at any point, he'll break down again and will need a month off to get back to "100%". Which he will be at until we play him too much again.

We have to somehow convince a genuine alternative to come in this summer that we can share the games out with as he seems to need over a week to recover from each 90 minutes he plays.

Tbf the club/Carlo were the ones who came out initially saying he was out of the Wolves game and flying back to Colombia due to being "tired".

Not the fans fault for questioning the situation not like they have access to James medical reports.

If the club weren't so poor with communication it would save a lot of angst in the fanbase on many issues imo.

All I care about is getting the best performances out of players for Everton.

Getting on their backs on social media doesn’t help with that. Ever.

Don't think he's blaming Everton at all, he's saying he's sacrificed a lot to be fit for the national side, you could read that as, I could have played more games for my team and help them get into Europe instead of taking extra days rest after knocks

We could probably benefit from a player of James ability who feels he's got a point to prove next season

He has absolutely not complained about Everton in his letter. Opposite, he's basically framed that he worked out with Carlo to return home and finish rehab in Colombia when he knew he couldn't make the last two fixtures for Everton and expressing his disappointment that the NT won't let him play in the second June WCQ fixture.

Important distinction here that should ease Everton fan concern on his commitment: the discord here is that he wouldn't be fit for Colombia's first qualifier next week - he is still injured and did not sacrifice those end of season games for Everton.

He is upset because he thought he could make Colombia's second game or at worst the Copa America (which starts a couple of weeks later).
