Haha just reading back a few pages. What's happened is he's turned up for Colombia, said he's happy to play when he wants to play - one qualifier and maybe the tournament depending on what side of bed he rolls out of that morning - exactly as he's did to us, and they've said "nah sod off, you're either fit or not".
Good on them.
That's the opposite of what happened.
He was injured at season end for Everton. When Everton fans thought he was choosing not to play, he was not fit . He knew he couldn't make the last two fixtures and agreed with Carlo to finish rehab in Colombia and try to get healthy for the Copa America.
He failed his medical this week. He is still hasn't recovered from the injury you are accusing him of faking. He tried desperately to argue that while failing his medical they should keep him in the call up as he might make the second qualifier and probably the Copa (which doesn't start for 2 and a half weeks). They told him no, and he's devastated. If he were fit, remotely, they would have played or kept him in - therefore, he was never faking or choosing when to play.
The guy wants to play. Likely had no idea his picture on plane would be taken as it was because he didn't realize fans thought he was faking injury. Now has gone and made things worse by publicly outing his discord with the new coaching staff at Colombia.
James needs much better guidance on his media/communication choices:
- Should have shown up in stands for final home game at Goodison
- Should have held up his picture on plane or not shared at all until after season.
- Should have kept discord with new Colombia NT coaches in house
Total mess and unnecessary.
