2020/21 James Rodriguez

Only at Everton would you have people railing agaisnt Ancelotti and James, yet dying in a ditch for Michael Keane and Tom Davies. Crazy.
Keane and Davies get much worse abuse than Rodriguez ever will do.
The irony is, they are the type of players who would actually play while injured.

We have plenty of average players who give everything they have who get slaughtered, we have one club players who get absolutely destroyed on these forums.

I like Rodriguez but I have a lot more respect for the players who I know give 100% for this club, whatever ability they possess.

First they came for Stones, then they came for Barkley, then they came for Lukaku, now they come for Rodriguez, but apparently the fans aren’t part of the problems at the club :coffee:

Dunno really, most people love 3 out of those 4 and only dont love Barkley because of the way he left.

Barkley nowhere near as good as the others either.

Edgy "look what I know". We know the type.

It's not that. He's one of the best players I've ever seen in an Everton shirt. I want him to be good and here long term.

But I'm not going to give mad excuses for his actions and behaviour. I won't for any player, regardless of who he is.

He's skipped games for his employer, repeatedly, jetted off like a Big Time Charlie and tried to dictate to Colombia what he's doing and got jibbed off. It's actually really funny - what's happened is what should have happened as he's done nothing lately to justify international selection.

If I'm their coach, I'm doing the exact same thing; every member of that squad should be their on merit, not reputation. He's turned up and said "right, I'm not playing that game, but I'll play that game, then I might play that game but not that game" and so on - we've tolerated that BS off him, Colombia to their massive credit haven't.

Not sure why there’s bad blood against James. He’s our best player by a million miles. He’s played through the pain barrier numerous times this season to try and do stuff in games for us. Let a be honest he’s the only one of the midfielders/wingers who really made an impact in the big games especially the two derbies and United away.

So he wasn’t fit for the last few games of the season and he wanted to give himself the best chance of being fit for Colombia. Wouldn’t anyone else do the same? Not sure why some call it karma because Colombia have made the choice they have.

If only all our players had the quality and desire to win if James then we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in. He’s done more in a handful of games this season, even at half fitness, than Gomes Davies Bernard or Iwobi have done in their entire careers with us.

Tbf most of our players take flack - its only "bad blood" "abuse" when its aimed at our better players.

I mean I took flack for calling DCL bambi by the same folk who hammer Siggurdsson for missing a penalty and claiming Pickford has some form of cognitive disorder because he's constantly animated.

The only player I've seen at Everton who should have been untouchable was Lukaku who was head and shoulders above everyone else - James has been very good for us but we've actually won more points without him in the side - take the likes of Grealish, Kane, Salah, KDB etc out their teams and that would probably be a different story ie. He has moments of real quality but hasn't grabbed games by the scruff of the neck & is also very injury prone.

I have nothing against him personally but likewise I wouldn't have him as a guaranteed starter next season if we bring in pace and power in those vital parts of the pitch we are lacking in.
