2020/21 James Rodriguez

I'd have said yes a month or so ago. But now, after what's played out and Ancelottis comments about poor attitudes, I'm not so sure.
I’m not sure Carlo was on about James on this one. He knew better than anyone we were gonna get around 25 games a season from him and he still brought him in.
I look at players with quality who don’t step up when we need them. Holgate has attributes but acts the fool. Sigurdsson has so much quality but goes hiding when we need him. Richarlison can produce match winning moments but has been so in his own head he’s had a poor season. Gomes looks brilliant about one in ten games and constantly makes awful defensive decisions. Iwobi has all the skills in the world but never takes on a player. Keane showed for Carlo’s first year in charge he can be a really great dominant CB but lost the plot since Xmas.
Carlo will have expected better from these players. We were in a really good position to push for Europe and instead they all fell apart whereas James did create moments of quality whenever he was on the pitch.

Take out his contributions as we would be about 15th.
Not to mention the chances he created that our other players blew due to being garbage.
Maybe, but I think we won more games without him than with him, although I’m not sure if that’s true, just quoting something I read, possibly on here.

No, we'd have had another player in his place, maybe not as good, but playing most of the season should more than make up for it.

My view is that he has seen this as the last chance to do well for his country and I understand him wanting to be fit for it but it has worked against him sadly .He is ,as posted above the best we have had in decades he is worth the trouble just to have him ,now and again is better than nothing ,the only caveat is that his absence should be genuine and I can live with that .

I would rather have someone younger who is hungry and will improve and who can be counted on to play most of the games in the e season in the same vein as DCL and a Richarlison than James Rodriguez.

Not if he plays the way Richarlison did this season, no. No point being on the pitch 38 games a season if you stink the place out 30 times plus. And he did.

He still has the World Cup next year.
