He's in a bit of a pickle isn't he? I don't like to say this, but he was too good for us in the first place. Now without Carlo what reason is there for him to stay with 10th spot Everton?

I'm surprised that Carlo has left him high and dry after the relationship they've had. But after murmurings about lack of motivation maybe Carlo said sod this. Who knows.

Either way, I'm somehow hoping for a motivated Hamez returning to us. He's still under contract and should honour that, for personal pride at least.
if this has been in the works for a couple of weeks as suggested and Carlo knew he would be leaving maybe he already spoke with James (Richarlison's post would suggest the players knew) and said go home, play for Columbia and don't worry about the future right now. The club have backed him over his exclusion from the national side and i'd like to think the first thing Brands did after Carlo left was call the likes of James, Allan and all our best players to reassure them but who the hell knows.

I'd like James to stay and I'm sure the club will want to keep him for another season... it would be an added bonus but what's clear from this season is that we can't rely or build a team around him. Whether he stays or goes probably won't have a great affect on our overall league position next season.

We won't see him in an Everton shirt again.
My moneys on him washing up in the MLS , probably with Neville and Beckham , they like a faux galactico
I think he sees himself playing in at least one more World Cup and Copa America - international football is much more important to him than club football is. Assuming he can get himself fit enough I can't see him being guaranteed selection for Colombia if he is playing his club football in the MLS. I also can't see many options for him apart from us in any decent European league. I don't think Madrid will go for him, despite the Carlo connection, and his wages combined with fitness issues, would further limit opportunities elsewhere.

I'm expecting him to stay with us for next season at least, as this seems his best route to continuing his international career, although a lot will depend on who we get as manager.

Hope so!

More chance if the other South Americans stay with us too, but not hopeful tbh about any of them.

Most of football revolves around money. It may be difficult for any of them to get the wages they are on with us anywhere else, particularly given the financial constraints that the longer term impacts of COVID may bring. On that basis I think we might be OK. Our real problem will be getting rid of players we don't want but who are being paid high wages. Why would any of them leave?

James is currently being advertised on Twitter as one of the participants for the Florida Cup. It is in their main Twitter account so maybe he is staying with Everton or maybe it is fake advertising but hopefully is the former.

The marketing department won't have the first clue what the player's intentions are, I'm afraid. Ask anyone who ever bought an Everton calendar; it's normally the clearest indicators of who is leaving.
