I’m guessing they agreed for him to come basically as a way to get him out of Madrid and then get him a move elsewhere if we didn’t make the CL. Seems like Mendes has it all figured out.

someone said it the other day, he's lived a charmed life here under Ancelotti. When 100% fit and focused there is no doubt he's our best player but that those moments were so few and far between and he was hardly committed to the cause, even less so now Carlo Ancelotti is gone. If we can get money for him (or part trade for a player as has been rumored) and Unless he's desperate to stay I'd sell but be thankful for the few moments of class he showed on the pitch. It's just a shame the fans never got to see him play.

I think most are in agreement aren't they. Move him on for someone young. Nice to have had him and all that but not being able to see him was a downer. Especially when I went to the wolves game
Yep, if he's going to go then getting a fee is great businesd. Even £10m plus his wages off the books is fantastic.

He’s definitely been linked a lot to Atletico. Could very well end up there this summer.

Real have probably installed a petty clause that we cannot sell him on to their city rivals.
