Would have loved him to stay longer.

But another year of unfit James will be frustrating. The modern attacker needs to press really well too and he lacks that big time.

It would be great if we were a possession based side. Bit since we not we can't have him coast even though he has got incredible vision

My thoughts on him after the first game of the season v Spurs last season couldn't be more different to my thoughts on him now. In short, I think it would be best for all parties if we moved on from each other and went for a younger, less injury prone replacement. Of course, I understand just how easy it is for me to say this but based on the stats (him in the team v him out the team) it shouldn't be too difficult surely?

Want players who want to play for Everton.

Cheers James, Ziggy, Richarlison, Davies, the ex-Arsenal chap, the ex-Man City chap, the striker who can't run or kick a ball straight...Cheers...

Lots of revisionism going on here. I would love to see him play for us but it would be on the condition he wanted to and not forced to, and his time out with injuries would at least be a bit better than last season. As both these is answered negatively then with a heavy heart we have to say farewell.

You cant be finishing midtable and have a player like James Rodriguez on the bench mate.

He's a luxury player for a side like us and for me he thrown in the towel too much hobbling off when he didn't want to put in a fight.

He's just as much a problem in that regard as the other shirkers like Iwobi and Siggurdsson. If we want success we need players willing to get stuck in.
he wasn't on the bench. He either played or wasn't fit. We got more minutes out of him than 4 of the last eight seasons.

You improve by having a squad of good players. We have far too many crap players. He was far from the issue. Our reliance on him was a big issue.

One thing we'll never know is how hes embedded into the squad and his attitude around the place.

Ultimately we're probably happy to let him go due to playing only 24 games, but whenever he gets injured he just seems to get jet off to colombia or whatever.

It's a shame we wont see him in person in blue, and we will miss some of his quality but generally i can't say im that arsed.

No reports whatsover that he was an issue in the squad though.

All we know is he can't stay fit. But we knew that when we signed him.

I'm arsed because we have a lot of players who are dreadful and I'm sick of seeing good players come and go and crap players remain.

He lost me after that Sheffield Utd game at home.

Trying to get sent off - not having that sorry.

Get £12-15 million profit on the books and reinvest in someone with pace.

Really?
Didn't uncle Carlo give him enough rest last season?

James didn't want to not play at the Copa.

He literally put out a statement saying he didn't agree with the coach's decision.

It also wasn't down to 'rest'. Colombia's coach didn't think he could be relied on to come back from his injury in a tournament.
