Assuming hes on 200kpw, lets go with that. That's still 100k saved, being spent on someone who can (hopefully) contribute week in week out.

Look, i'd rather keep him, play him when we can and utilise the fact hes a wonderful footballer. But 200k for someone whos not interested, not fit most of the time... WORST case scenario saving 100k p/w on him isnt a bad thing.

Ofcourse if we can get a fee and all of his wages gone then great, but I cant see it happening.

I get the point mate but honestly couldn't stomach it. It's doing things like that which have got the club where we are right now.

Brands' complete inability to get players off the books is genuinely maddening.

Another thing I don't get with this James thing. It's actually quite sensible, offering him to Porto as part of the Diaz bid. I get that.

But why can't we be doing that with other players we want rid of? Let's say we want Zakaria? Why aren't we offering Gomes to Gladbach as part of that deal? What about offering Delph if we want a midfielder from a PL club?

It's like we just actively want rid of quality and keep the tosh.

But yes, I understand all the reasons why James has to go.

I think he's a wonderful player but fail to see how he would fit into a hard working, motivated Benitez team. The emphasis now ( correctly) appears to be on the team as a collective.

Horses for courses. We won't win every game by running around a lot.

Frightening this lads our most talented player a worldwide name and we can't shift him on with 48 hours of the window left

Potentially our highest earner and we will not see him play for us this season but pay him to stay at home

What a time to be alive

Well look, if he stays, this is what I mean.

If he stays, if we can't shift him, then he simply has to be part of the squad. There would be absolutely no defending the club if they did otherwise.

I'm at the point now where I'd probably rather him go than see our useless club do something like not include him in the 25 PL squad, or something.

If he stays I don't want him anywhere near the first team squad

He will be gone next summer play and train the lads who want to be here know who were playing regardless of fitness and will be here in 2- 3 years time playing in raffas team because they want to be at the club and certainly not because of there income dictating it

You don't know we aren't. I don't know we are.

One thing that does undermine the whole idea is clubs have to want our players and the players have to want to go. Delph isnt taking a paycut just to play football, clubs dont want to pay Delph good money to sit on the treatment table.

Horrendous mess we are in and its the fault ofa bout 4/5 people.

Do you mind me asking what the player has supposedly done to deserve such treatment?

Why?

He directly contributed to 14 goals last season. He's a brilliant player, and he's our highest earner. So if he's staying, he simply has to be part of the squad because we want to win things and he could help us do that?

That's like saying PSG should punt Mbappe to the reserves because he wants to leave and only has a year left on his deal.

Unlike PSG, we aren't blessed with tons of quality. So if James stays, he should be used in some capacity. Whether that's just dropping him in and out, using him in certain games etc.

If James stays, then would it not be good, when we play Norwich at home, for example, to have him in the side, fresh, with pace around him?
